Really bad. I usually buy fat free canned refried beans and these were awful.

The worst refried beans I've ever eaten
Truly terrible. The texture is lumpy, even grainy, and doesn't smooth out after adding milk and oil. The flavor is overridingly bitter, with barely a suggestion of bean flavor or any spices. I can't describe just how bad these are. They are, by far, the worst refritos I've ever eaten or even heard of. I threw the opened can contents in the disposal and tossed the other unopened can. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who approves of these beans in the other reviews either a) got a good can by mere chance; or b) should not be allowed to write food reviews because they have awful taste. In contrast, I must have gone through hundreds of cans of Rosarita No Fat over the years, and every can has been exaclty the same excellent quality: rich bean flavor, nicely spiced, and smooths out to a nice creamy texture with the addition of liquid just as good refritos should (and includes some whole beans).

Seems to be hit or miss. There’s either a dark spot, it’s dry, or it’s good. This last time it was dry with no flavor and had what looked to be a pumpkin seed in it.

Save your money!
The texture is awful. They were like rubber scooping out of the can. I tried adding water to get a smoother texture and it helped some. Flavor was not terrible but not good. Hands down— will NOT buy again!!!

toastads
i like the flavor is not over salted, lightly seasoned can taste it when is clod from the can, taste like the can almost metallic, heated is a slight difference I added some hot sauce no cheese, or non-dairy yogurt in place of sour cream. is simple not extra flavor, I don't like the can, I had to fight with it because I'm partially blind.

Great refried beans
My family loves these pinto beans! We would prefer that they are organic, but unfortunately they are not and that’s the only negative. They taste great and are cheap. We like that they are fat free also.

Organic refried beans at a great price.
These beans are a basic organic food that you can add spices to if you wish. For all of the people complaining about the oil, it is just there to allow you to turn the can upside down and the beans slide out. Perhaps the reviewers do not know about this. Add garlic, onion, cayenne pepper, cumin, bacon, or whatever you wish. If you prefer plain, here they are.

Dry refried beans
The beans are hard compared to other brands. I have to add water and/or sour cream when warming them up just to help break them apart. Several cans have also had questionable spots in them.

This ain't it
The beans had a very strange texture and the flavor was not appealing. I generally prefer low fat beans since they skip the lard, but these were just not good.

Eww
I usually buy the fat-free beans from Trader Joe’s and have always loved them. I thought they’d be the same from anywhere, I’ve never had any beans from a can I didn’t like… Wrong. These are disgusting. The flavor is just off, like there’s no flavor and yet there’s too many flavors? I can’t describe it. They don’t taste right.

Surprisingly BAD
I’ve tried several national brand fat free refried beans over the years. They were always tasty, smooth and spreadable. The same can not be said for these. They are a solid chunk with some whole beans that are difficult to get out of the can, so tough they are difficult to mash with a fork. After all that effort these FF refried beans taste like nothing at all, except perhaps school library paste. Suggest paying 20 cents more for an edible version.
