Good toy for learning while traveling
Great learning toy to keep in the car. A little tough to control what multiplication fact will appear, for example if you want to just review the 6's.

Students know the answer but can't find the button quickly
Most number key pads are arranged in a rectangular pattern, but the Minute Math Electronic Flash Card number key pad is set up in a triangular pattern. I understand how this pattern would fit better on a triangular fact-family flash card, but this confuses my students. My students know the answer, but are unable to locate the buttons they need before the time is up.

Good idea but poor execution
We use Singapore Math so I thought this would be great for learning number bonds plus it includes addition/subtraction and multiplication/division so it grows with your child. Cons: yes you can turn off the sound but once you put your answer in it removes it and moves on so fast you have no idea if you were right or wrong. Also there is no chance to correct yourself. So what is the child really learning. Nothing. It quickly fastest to the next problem even if you turn off the timer. Also it would be helpful if the little screens were bigger so you can see the numbers more clearly. They are small and dark. They do not light up. I think this could be a great product and very helpful if they could work out these issues. Also a button that clearly says - sound on/sound off. It's for kids. Keep it simple and slow it down. There is a reason we are allowed to do "minute math" in school anymore and it's the frustration that comes from it.

read the instructions to turn off beeps or time pressure
Press the red POWER button to turn the unit on. from instructions Press and hold the POWER button to mute the sound and play in silence. Press the POWER button again to restore the sound. Press POWER button again to turn the game off. Slide the selector switch to choose addition/subtraction or multiplication/division drills. Level Select Press 1, 2 or 3 to select a skill level. The selected level will display in Screen 1. or multiplication tables 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10. Skill Level 2 - This level increases the difficulty by featuring numbers 10-20 in addition/subtraction, or multiplication tables 3-12. Skill Level 3 - Play this level for a real challenge. Addition/Subtraction features equations with multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10, all the way up to 150, and multiplication tables 0-12. The Minute Math drill begins after a five-second countdown. Players now have sixty (60) seconds to solve as many equations as they can by filling in the missing number. The missing number may appear in any one of the three display screens. NOTE - The number in Screen 1 will ALWAYS be the largest of the three numbers in any of the equations. See example on page 1. The unit makes a "positive" sound for correct answers and a "negative" sound for incorrect answers. In MUTE mode, the screen will flash to indicate correct answers. At the end of 60 seconds, the unit will display a score. Screen 2 will display the number of problems answered correctly, and Screen 3 will display the total number of equations. To play again, press any button to return to the Level Select screen. ********Note - To disable the 60-second timer************************* , when selecting a skill level, press and hold button (1, 2 or 3). The screen will flash briefly and the timer will be disabled for the game. This is a great way to practice solving unlimited math equations. To restore the timer function, select a new game by sliding the selection switch

Will last for years
My daughter loves maths!! This has been a great addition to our home school learning. She likes the challenge of beating the buzzer. It is easy to use and has lots of levels and sum options you can choose additions, subtraction, multiplication or division. My daughter is 5 and on level one addition and subtraction so she will have many years worth of use before she reaches the higher levels.

Stressful for trying to learn; fine if you already know
We bought this to help our daughter with memorizing her multiplication tables, but it gives so little time to answer that you cannot get it right if you have to sit and think for a few seconds; it is maddening and had my daughter in tears. I tried repeatedly to disable to timing function, without success. Only get this if your child already has them memorized.

Terrible and frustrating
Terrible product! It says you can turn the timer off but it still only gives a few seconds for each problem. My highly intelligent straight A student couldn't handle it! I literally threw it in the trash.

Too many problems...
There were no directions in the package I purchased on line!? I only discovered them on the website. The various levels need greater speed choices so that children with processing difficulties (dyslexics) can use this without great frustration. And for a similar cohort, this needs to be larger and easier to see and hold.

Too fast and not enough problems for each level
This device does not have enough math problems for a kid to master the concepts of addition, timing is not adjustable to enable younger kids learn to add then answer, it moves too fast and after 4 or so problems it will end the season and request change the level. Please don't waste your hard earned money for such garbage

Great product BUT you can't turn off the sound!
This educational toy (tool) is great practice for my second graders. I love that there are different levels to choose from and can, therefore, be played by ALL of my students. They love it too. I'm actually not sure why there are negative reviews on it-- unless maybe they haven't seen a fact triangle in this way before. My only complaint is that there is no button to turn the sound down or off! It is pretty loud and has a very tin-like sound that is very distracting in a classroom. I used some matching washi-tape to cover the sound holes to muffle it, which works fine but is not ideal. If it had a sound control, I would have bought more but I can't imagine having 5 of these going at the same time.

Easy to use more fun than flash cards
This is easy to use and a fun way for my son to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I read neg comments before buying, but decided to buy it anyway. I do not understand why they say it is hard to use. We didn't even need the directions to figure this one out. A great find for us as homeschoolers. This is a great way for your student to practice math facts. After homeschooling 4 kids, I wanted something more fun than the typical flash cards and this is it.

Difficult to Use
I have an MBA from an Ivy League school and I found this almost impossible to use. I can't imagine how children could or would ever use it. I strongly recommend it be taken off the market. The user instructions are not at all helpful. I discarded it before frustrating my child with it. I have not been compensated for this review and I'm not going to bother asking for a refund.

Pass on this item
The designer must be a smart person in their own private world. The item is smart. The item controls are poor in their application. Designer's children would not be able to use this toy and neither would my grand children. If the toy is not being used, than it defeats the purpose of the application it is designed for. I wish I had a gift receipt to return it. Difficult to access all the different options from an adult stand point. Little children who are age appropriate would not be able to access those options. Very poor design by a very smart designer. Unfortunately management should have realized that before bring it to market.

Thirty Five years ago I bought this type
Two of my kids learned their math facts so well, that math came easy to them. I searched for a similar product and this "Minute Math" was suggested. I liked it immediately and would have gladly paid twice the asking price. It is intuitive, Kindergartners easily figure out the app. There are no instructions. Just select the level you want to try and listen for the "ready set go" tones. You get one minute to try as many problems as you can answer. It then presents how many right out of how many attempted. I gave the one I bought to my oldest Grandson along with $5.00 to his Dad - to be given to my Grandson when he achieves 20 correct on level 3. I do not care how many he tries, or how long it takes him - each "quiz" lasts only one minute. When he is done and earned his prize, he will know his add / sub facts and will probably be hooked on the devise to learn his mult /div facts. It is simply the very best devise available today to learn "the Facts, Ma'm, just the Facts, please!" to paraphrase SGT. Friday. I purchased mine from a specialty store and am about to but the second one here, on-line!

Fun and Educational
Thursday, December 29, 2011 Learning Resources Review and Giveaway Do your kids love learning as much as mine? Do you have trouble finding toys and games that are educational, yet fun at the same time? Learning resources "is a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational materials for classrooms and learning toys for the home. For more than 25 years, the company has been a trusted source for educators and parents for quality, award-winning educational products." Just visit their easy to navigate website and you will be amazed at how many wonderful products that your child would be interested in and benefit from. Now I don't usually like to brag about my kids (5 and 7), but they are extremely smart. They are both several grade levels ahead in reading, writing, and spelling. However, I will be the first to admit that they both could use a little extra help when it comes to math. For as smart as they are, they both seem to have a hard time with their simple math facts. They can figure out longer problems that include basic math facts, but it takes them a long time. As a mother and a teacher, I feel that it is important that kids know their basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts. I also think they should learn them so that they can answer without hesitation. The Minute Math Electronic Flash Card is helping them both reach that goal. This fun little math game, encourages them to practice daily. It even has them challenging themselves to beat their best score. So far my 7 year old has received 13 out of 13 correct in one minute. She has now set a new goal to get 15 out of 15.
