The folding bamboo is made of sustainable bamboo. The hinge locks in place to keep the stool secure while in use. The hinge has an easy release pin so folding is easy and secure. Works great! A trick to folding it...
This works great! It’s sturdy, cute, and easy to fold. For folks looking at prior reviews that say folding is hard: there are spring loaded screws that lock it in place. You have to pinch them to close the feet. Hope that helps! I put pictures to show you all :-)

Useful and well made

Pooorly made there are scratches on both side. The wood (not the bamboo) is uneven heavy coat of paint cannot cover it. Sorry to say, but not recommended.

Tips Easily
Tips too easily. We have the original version too and it's much more stable. My young kids use it to climb up to use the toilet and it often tips while they're stepping up on it. If this one was a little wider/longer base it would be more stable.

I like it but...
It gets the job done, but I wish the middle part of the stool (where it pushes up against the toilet) was slimmer like the plastic version so that when youre not using it you can push it up against the toilet and its not in the way. This version is too obtrusive to have it against the toilet when not using it, so I have to move it back and forth each time I want to use it.
