Matting occurs when rough hair surfaces rub together, often due to being tied back or scrubbed during washing. Severe tangling, sometimes called bird nesting, is more prevalent in hair that has become dry and damaged from styling, perming, dyeing, or bleaching. To help prevent tangling, we suggest using a shampoo and conditioner with a higher level of conditioning as well as a conditioning treatment two or three times a week.
