Q: How long does each filter last, and does it filter hard water?

  • A: Thank you for asking about this! Most homes change their filter at around 2-4 weeks, though this timeframe will vary for each home based on use. These filters remove bad tastes and odors from the water, but would not be able to reduce the effects of hard water. If you have very hard water, we would recommend using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water when you clean your fountain every 1-2 weeks, as this will help minimize hard water stains.

Works great for about 3 months.

This has lasted approx 3 months. Suddenly, it just stopped working. I cleaned it twice a week with soap and water. Changed the filter once a week. Took very good care of it. My cats really liked it, so 3 stars but if it lasted longer, I'd definitely give it 5.

We're sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your fountain! It's very likely this can be resolved right away with a few quick troubleshooting steps. Though you have been cleaning your fountain, we would recommend removing the pump, fully disassembling the pump into four pieces as shown in your manual, and scrubbing all four pieces under warm water with soap, using a small brush or Q-tip to scrub down inside the cavity where the final removeable piece rests. Once this is done, try adding a dab of food safe oil (olive oil, etc.) to the white propeller blades of that last removeable piece, then fully reassemble the pump, fully immerse it in water, and plug it in. It will likely come on right away. If it does not, please have a clear picture or screenshot of your receipt or order record with you and contact our live support team here- https://www.premierpet.com/contact-us/ Our phone hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. A little disappointed

I have bought this product on 3 separate occasions because my cats like drinking water out of it and it most convenient for my price range. Each one has randomly stopped working even when I keep up on changing the filter

It's very likely we'll be able to get any fountains you still have working for you right away with some quick troubleshooting steps- even if they currently make no noise at all when you plug them in and appear completely 'dead'. We would recommend fully disassembling your fountain and pump as shown in your manual, scrubbing all four pieces of the pump with warm water and either no soap or mild dish soap, thoroughly rinsing all pieces if soap was used, then adding a dab of food safe oil (olive oil, etc.) to the white propeller blades of the last removeable piece in your pump. When you then fully reassemble the pump, fully immerse it in water, and plug it in, it should come on right away. Loud and cause my cat to inhale water

I owned this water fountain for about 3 months, and from the start this fountain is very loud. I also noticed with the design of the fountain and how the water is dispersed, my cat had a tendency to inhale water on accident and sneezed a lot, so it wasn’t the best for her well-being. I would have to refill it about two times a week and the water ran out pretty quick. When the water level starts to get low, the sound gets even louder. I also found that the plastic top gets dirty pretty quick even with frequent cleaning. I switched this fountain out with a metal one instead and found it a lot better quality and easier to clean. My cat also stopped inhaling water because of the change in design.

Stopped working after 5 months

If I still had the box I would return it since I still have 4 days left to do it, that's how crappy this thing is gave out after almost exactly 5 months after I bought it. Just spend alittle more money and buy a nicer one. My cat did use it though when it did work

Give this fountain a try!

I recommend this fountain. The assembly instructions are very clear and very easy to follow. There are five settings. There's a very quiet, non-intrusive and somehow comforting hum. It now remains to be seen if my cat accepts this fountain. She's 15 and up to now, she has drunk only from bowls. If she doesn't like this new water station, the product itself is not at fault. I highly recommend!

Breaks quickly

I’ve bought 3 of them within 6 months, all of them stopped working (I kept them clean, changed filters, and kept water filled.) The 3rd one stopped working after 2 days and is still full of water.

Died after 3 months

I have had this exactly 3 months and the pump/motor died already. Worked ok while it lasted but still got moldy even though I always cleaned it per manufacturer instructions.

Pet Safety Hazard

It’s so target to sell something so disturbingly dangerous for pets. After 2 weeks, mold all through it. Filters do NOT last the expected lifespan on the packaging. Wires with live electrical instead the water pool. What else do I even need to say?

Worked great for 4 months...

My cat loves this fountain and I took good care of it - replacing the filters, changing the water, cleaning it often, etc. However, it broke after only 4 months of use. I have contacted the manufacturer as they say it has a 1 year warranty. I wish the thing just worked as stated instead of breaking and requiring customers to jump through warranty hoops. I would recommend getting a different fountain for your cat or dog.

Though you have cleaned your fountain, if you have not yet tried cleaning the pump we would recommend fully disassembling the pump into four pieces as shown in the manual, and scrubbing those pieces thoroughly under warm water with soap. Since your pump has stopped, it may also help to add a dab of food safe oil (olive oil, etc.) to the propeller blades of the last removeable piece. Once this is done, if you fully reassemble your pump and fully immerse it in water, it should come on right away.
