It creates 4 free-falling water streams for your cat to drink from, or you can remove the butterfly topper for a quiet, bubbling water flow. Both help your pet stay hydrated by encouraging them to drink more since they are naturally attracted to moving water (which is awesome) because your pet needs 1 ounce of water per 1 pound they weigh every day. This fountain has a shorter base, which gives kittens easier access to the fountain. The fountain also has a raised tray, so even if the power goes out, your cat will still have access to water. The wide tray is whisker-friendly, which keeps your cat’s sensitive whiskers from touching the sides while drinking. To keep water fresh, we use dual-filtration technology to remove pet hair, debris, bad tastes and odors. A carbon filter, foam filter and fountain pump work together to keep water filtered and clean. Though it is always possible for a bit of carbon residue to occur, this can be minimized by thoroughly rinsing each filter under cool water until the water runs clear. It is important to mention that if the filter is becoming slimy quickly, this is typically an indicator the pump needs to be fully disassembled and cleaned. We do recommend doing this every 1-2 weeks when you clean your fountain. once put together the electrical chord didn't fit right and it was loud because the butterfly vibrated. The water smelled weird so thinking i didn't rinse the parts well enough I took it apart. the electrical chord then got a hole in it because taking it apart was not easy, and definetly wouldn't be worth it in the future. target refunded me.

It's cute, and it's not horrible, especially for the price. But despite filling it not quite to the max fill line, it overflowed. If it's sitting on 100% level ground, the water goes to the very brim of the tray. I sat it on a spot on carpet where it was just the absolute tiniest bit unlevel when I set it up, and found it spilling water onto the floor when I checked it a few minutes later. It also feels pretty cheap, but I guess the price reflects that. I'm glad it has sitting water available in the tray, vs. giving the cats only the option of drinking directly from the fountain like some cat fountains do. Overall though, I don't think I'd buy it again.

My cats like it BUT it is super loud. I have to add more water multiple times a day due to the noice increasing. At one point I thought someone was mowing outside but it was just the water fountain.

Yeah I was excited about it but it was super loud and broke after just a week or so of use. Seemed kind of cheaply made but I knew I wasn’t paying for the top line of these things. To sum it up, I’d recommend just buying the better version from the start

We are very sorry to hear that the DrinkWell Butterfly Pet Fountain experienced these issues. We understand how upsetting this can be. Typically when the fountain has a loud sound coming from the pump, this typically indicates there is not enough water or there is a blockage in the impeller. While cleaning the fountain parts weekly is great, many of our customers are not aware the pump will need to be disassembled for cleaning as well. If it is not cleaned after 1 to 2 weeks, it will cause an issue such as this. To clean the pump cavity you will need to disassemble the fountain to remove the pump. On the pump you will need to remove the faceplate with the flow control knob, the intake plate and the impeller. This will allow you to use a brush to clean the cavity. Before reassembling the pump, place a small drop of food safe oil such as veggie or canola oil on the bottom of the impeller blades for lubrication. If you find this does not help with this issue please reach out to our Customer Care Team at 1-800-845-3274. We would be happy to help with troubleshooting and warranty information

We are sorry to hear your Butterfly Fountain has stopped working, Sydney! If the pump has stopped circulating water in the fountain, it would be best to complete a full cleaning of the internal components of the pump with a 50/50 water and vinegar solution. You will need to remove the faceplate, stator, and impeller to get to the inside of the pump. Even if you have already cleaned the pump, if you did not use the vinegar and water solution, we would definitely recommend going through it again as this can help break up any mineral buildup that may not be readily visible within the interior of the pump. Before reassembling the pump, we also recommend placing a drop of food-safe oil on the pin in the impeller cavity for lubrication. These two maintenance processes should be performed monthly. If your pump is still not functioning despite these maintenance steps, you do have a one year warranty on your fountain and we will be happy to help you further. Please reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677 for additional warranty support.

My cats were terrified of this at first, but they have come around. I realized that unless it is very full, it makes a lot of noise. It was also on vinyl flooring at first, causing excess noise as well. It wasn't until I put it on carpet and filled it all the way up that I realized it could be nearly silent(to my, admittedly not great, ears). Then, they were willing to give it a chance. Its been a few weeks, and I've gotten used to listening for when it needs to be filled more. They drink more water from this fountain than they ever were from a bowl, so they must be happy with it.

Have two cats and have used several different kind of fountains. Loved this one. However, you lost one star because it is really impossible to tell when you need to add water to it. Otherwise, love the size, capacity, the water flow, and that if the power goes out there is still water in the well.

after years of using drinkwell fountains, and being pleased with the fountains for being highly durable and long-lasting, i bought this drinkwell 360 jan 26th. it is june, 5 months later and the motor just stopped working. i cannot get the housing that holds the filter open to change the filter either. i am very disappointed with this product.

My kitty just like most cats loves to drink water from the kitchen sink and screens every morning ( around 5 am ) for me to open her water. With Butterfly Pet Fountain I can finally sleep and don't have to wake up at 5am. Alice loves her Butterfly Pet Fountain and drinks more water than before. I'm happy that my cat is happy . My only complaint is that it seems to drop down to a low water level very quickly, then it stops working and buzzes loudly, so you have to keep an eye on it.

I got this fountain to replace the big Drinkwell multi-pet fountain I had in my kitchen for my two cats. This is much smaller and much easier to pick up and clean. It has one drawback. You can’t see how much water is in the reservoir so it is hard to know how much and how often to add water to keep the pump working safely. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but there is definitely a learning curve with this fountain not necessary with other pet fountains. It is very cute.
