Q: why does the hum get louder every couple of days?

  • A: Thank you for the great question! If your Automatic Water Fountain is making a noise, this would mean two things: the first thing would be that the water is too low. The pump may be running dry and causing a humming sounds. The Second thing would be that the pump may need to be cleaned internally. To clean the pump cavity you will need to disassemble the fountain to remove the pump. On the pump you will need to remove the faceplate with the flow control knob, the intake plate and the impeller. This will allow you to use a brush to clean the cavity. Before reassembling the pump, place a small drop of food safe oil such as veggie or canola oil on the bottom of the impeller blades for lubrication. If you find this does not help with this issue please reach out to our Customer Care Team at 1-866-381-2785. We would be happy to help with troubleshooting.

Our cats have loved this fountain since we got it a little over three months ago. At one point, the water level got a little low, and the pump stopped working. I reached out to customer service on the Premier Pet website, and they were exceedingly helpful. They asked me a few questions to try to troubleshoot the issue, but in the end they decided to send me a new pump free of charge. The whole conversation lasted about 10 minutes, and I left very happy. The product is great, but the customer service makes it even better.

I have purchased 3 of these fountains. They ALL stop working right around 3 months. The first 2 I assumed it was something we had done, or hard water calcifying in it, but this last one we purchased, we ONLY used filtered, reverse osmosis water in it, cleaned it out twice per week and made sure that it was always full & it STILL just stopped working all of the sudden. No amount of cleaning or adjusting the flow helps, the tiny motor just gives up. Very frustrating & disappointing.

I purchased this 8 months ago and it no longer works. I cleaned the fountain every 4 days and changed the white carbon filters every 2-4 weeks and foam filters every 1-2 months. I cleaned it yesterday after unplugging it and when I went to plug it back in, nothing. I checked all connecting cords and still nothing. My cat loves drinking from this fountain, but it has a very short product life! For the price, I suppose it may be worthwhile, my cat did drink more than she did before.

THIS FOUNTAIN IS HORRIBLE. I used it for two weeks and it grew mold, and my cat’s water was disgusting and filthy. I have used many pet fountains and I have never come across this problem. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. I am worried now for my cat’s safety and health. THIS IS DANGEROUS.

Our cat Meg was constantly asking for a drink from the bathroom sink, so we knew she would enjoy a fountain that poured a stream of water. We must have looked at dozens online, most much more expensive than this one. Then on a trip to Walmart, we wandered down the pet aisle and saw this. (The store had the larger version on the shelf, so I placed an order on the store website and picked up the smaller version the next day.) Within hours of setting it up at home, she was drinking water from it regularly. The set up was easy, with clear instructions. The parts all seem sturdy and well made. It is virtually silent, easy to clean and refill. Can't say enough good about it. We've already recommended it to several friends. Thank you for this great fountain!

This fountain is awful. Its super loud out of the gate, but then broke after 2 weeks of use and got even louder! Started making machine gun noises scaring my cat. Get a different one thats 10 bucks more and it will be much quieter and so much better!

Bought this product 3 times. The first one lasted less than a year, the other I sent with my daughter less than a year and I repurposed another in less that 4 month the motor has once again stopped working. The product is ok for price point and functionality was great and exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately the pump keeps going out.

Alright so there’s a lot of really bad reviews on here but I’ve had mine for nearly 4 months now and I’m loving it! It’s really not that hard to clean, just keep up with replacing the filters when they get gunky and wash it out and you’ll be fine! The instructions say to clean out once a week and deep clean every month. I’ve kept up with that and had no issues whatsoever. Also it runs out fast because I have two cats. So make sure you’re checking it daily to refill it or that will also cause it to break.

I bought the Premier Pet Automatic Water Fountain for Cats and Small Dogs - 60oz less than 4 months ago from target in Hickory, NC and the pump stopped working! My cats love it when it works. It's not silent but that's fine, I don't mind the sound of trickling water. I just hate that I spent money on something that didn't work for long

This residue may at first appear similar to mold, but is harmless filter material. Received this item in May 2nd and last night (Friday May 10th) 1 of the 2 that I ordered stopped working. I wasn't totally impressed with them anyway, the plastic is very thin (it's about as sturdy as a Tupperware dish, its design means my cat is going to get some part of her head or face wet while drinking (since the middles flows water out from the center and the sides are narrow like not even wider than my pinky), and it has been very easy for little bugs to get into the reservoir part.

Mold lead to blood infection for my kitty!

Watch for mold in the filter area ! My cat had a severe bacteria level! Checked this and there was mold behind the filter, even though I cleaned the water tub every other day. Filters changed every 2 weeks min. Regardless,They hold bacteria that gets back into water! We almost lost my cat, she was so sick. This was the suspected cause. Vet recommends higher end models- better build & user friendly. FYI
