Q: Does the water stream need to be running in order to filter the water or is the pump filtering the water? Asking because I want to turn off the stream since it's noisy.

A: In the product detail it says to turn off stream for quieter operation so it implies you can turn it off and still have filtered water.

Q: I have now purchased two of these fountains. I followed every step closely, cleaned all parts, added water and plugged the machine in. neither machine will pump water up the tube and out of the top.

Bowls are large and well-made, fountain feature works well. The filters don't catch as much as I'd hoped and the water still gets fairly dirty quickly with two large GSDs drinking from them. Unfortunately, after a month I don't see them drinking from the fountains any more than they had from the previous water bowls, so at least in my experience there was no net gain in hydration for my dogs.

One of the best cat fountains I have tried. The durability is good, but it's plastic. The noise level is not loud and it is easy to clean. I have purchased other fountains that have too many parts which made it difficult to clean. This PetSafe fountain has less parts which makes it less of a hassle to clean. The water capacity is enough for one or two cats, but any more than that you'll need another fountain.

We’ve always used petsafe fountains for our animals! Recently bought this one and after a few days of cleaning it… the water stops flowing on the plastic nub, hits just behind it, and becomes super loud! I clean it again and everything is fine and then a few days later it gets loud again! It’s as if you all should make it a slide where the water hits and flows into the bowl helping cancel the sound! Is there a way to prevent this? I almost regret getting this upgrade and kept the old model. The only thing with that is the old was a PITA to clean out! This is easier.

Our senior dog Max was a bit hesitant at first to approach the fountain, but once we left him alone he started to approach it by himself! It’s a cute little fountain to keep in the living room.

It is important to mention that for all fountains with submersible pumps, the water level does need to be kept above the level of the pump. This will prevent the pump from struggling, and will ensure the fountain still functions as intended. This does actually hold 2 gallons and I loveeee it. I have a husky mix so she drinks a ton after all her play time.

The tank holds enough and I can keep an eye on the water level to ensure they are staying hydrated. The sound isn’t too loud either and kinda sounds like a babbling brook. If you’re looking to have a large water bowl for your pets and it self filter, this is the way to go.

The fountain is large and holds 2 gallons like it says it’s got a small water pump in it with a filter and hoses to run the water to the top. For the price the size and function it doesn’t get any better than this.

While it’s quiet and holds a decent amount of water, he just wasn’t a fan 😅. I ended up sending it back home with my mom assuming our cat will like it. What I didn’t like was that the only way to turn off the fountain is by unplugging it. I wish there was a button on top where I could turn it off because our dog isn’t a heavy drinker, so to have it run all day when he typically drinks after meals or outside seems like a waste of energy. I think this would be a quality staple for another animal. Mine is just persnickety.

Initially they played with it until they realized it was here to stay and wouldn't turn off like the sink! lol. It's plenty big enough for two kitties to drink at the same time and it's very easy to clean! Water stays fresh!

I put it where I have always had their water bowls and waited to see how they would react to the sound, which is actually relaxing for us.It took them a bit longer to get used to it. It's quiet.They don't mind it now. They played in it for a while before they started to drink from it. Now it is just their watering hole. It's a nice size and fits in a small space. It doesn't take much to keep filled and easy to clean.Thank you.
