Controversial - Best Primer but not for its intended use
Ive tried a ton of primers and none have ever made my foundation look better in my opinion.. BUT this one! For reference- ive used the Benefit primer, hourglass primer, priming sprays yadda yadda. Everytime primers just added an extra layer of "cake" to my face or made my face look worse than if I just did regular skin prep. I also used 'good foundations' like the Estee Double Wear, Lancome Idole, Shiseidos foundation, Charlotte T., and more blah blah. I got a sample of this primer and the green tint intimidated me but when you rub it in theres little to NO green tint, which i know defeats the original purpose of this primer but the ACTUAL priming power?? 10/10 most amazing smoothing perfectly lightly hydrating primer. Its not the slippy silicone-y type and its not just a plain 'hydrating' moisturizer re-labeled as a primer. Its a tiny bit drier than a moisturizer, which in my opinion is how it should be to actually grip the foundation. Its the perfect base after doing a moisturizing skin prep. If youre looking for a primer that actually creates a nice skin texture base this is the one! This was a surprising holy grail for me

It works
I really like this product. Its great for reducing the redness on my face. Its light, not heavy. There's a noticeable improvement. Not the right product if you like a heavy duty coverage

Did not work
This primer did not cover up even the tiniest bit of redness on my face and my makeup definitely did not stick well to it either.

Best Anti-Redness Primer
The Smashbox primer seems to be more moisturizing and does not leave a dry flaky texture like a some other brands I've tried.

My Go-To Primer!
Fantastic product! I'm 42 years old with very fair, very sensitive, pink-undertoned skin, with rosaceia on my cheeks. My once oily face has become dry and even more easily irritated with age. This primer is such a blessing for my redness. It feels wonderful going on, like it's just smoothing its way over any bumps or fine lines to create a lovely canvas for a few dots of foundation. Soothing and moisturizing, and it dries to a satin-soft feel. It doesn't pill under makeup, but I've learned to be pretty gentle with my skin so I don't give it much of a chance. The color correcting is the best I've found. Anyone with skin like mine knows that you can't rub or even dab something on your face without creating more redness... give your skin time to chill afterward before judging the coverage. Then compare photos with and without it, on multiple days. I bet you'll see a difference! One purchase lasts several months for me so it's a great buy.

Smashbox primer
I have really oily skin and this product only kept my skin shine free for like 4-6 hours. It does keep my skin blurred for photographs though.

Didn't Hide Redness
Overall it's an okay primer but not as good as some of their others. It didn't do anything to hide the redness on my cheeks.

Very Upset with Ulta right now
Got a gift card for my birthday. The cashier told me I had the card where the PIN had to be peeled off instead of scratched. Whatever that meant. So I tried to peel it and the number then could be read. So, now I can't use the card. And, nobody at the store would help me. Very upset with Ulta right now. I ended up paying for it.

Didn't do much
Still have redness on my lower cheeks, now with a slight green cast. I tried applying it with my fingers, with a makeup sponge, and with a brush - all with the same results. I tried applying more, less, and with/without serum too. I will say the texture is nice, it glides on easily and doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. It has a nice mattifying effect, so although it did nothing for redness, I'll at least be using the rest of this tube under foundation.

The best primer I've ever tried
This miracle primer minimized my pores, helped my makeup stay in place, and ACTUALLY kept my face from being overly shiny over 8h of wearing foundation!

New formula
I am so sad that they changed the formula. This leaves a green/yellow cast and just doesn't cover the way the old formula did. Please bring back the old primer!!

Fan Favorite!
I have been using this primer for years since its release and no other primer has yet strayed me from it! Its finish is mattifying, lasts me about 8 hours before any oil peeks through my makeup. It is unscented. My only gripe is the packaging makes it hard to get what is left when the product is low. But I make a way haha!

Amazing
I have very dry sensitive skin and do not have a lot of success with most makeup products, but this is a miracle product! Does not dry me out, cause breakouts, or pill on top of heavy moisturizers. It makes my pores basically invisible, makeup just glides on over it, and it keeps it on ALL DAY.

Doesn't Work on Skin with Wrinkles
I'm 77 but still have oily skin. Smashbox Photo Finish Oil and Shine Control has been wonderful over the years, but I can no longer find it. I tried Photo Finish Control Mattifying primer with Salicylic Acid and was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. It doesn't control oil AT ALL, plus it causes my makeup to gather in my wrinkles.
