However, please note the bed rail height is approximately 9.2 inches—using an 8-inch mattress may cover more of the rails, which could affect the appearance and usability. Q: Where does the second mattress store when not in use, when open it appears to be one level and the slats make it look as though there would be no storage area for a second mattress
