Q: Is each element/burner independently controlled, so I could use only one burner if that's all I need?

A: Hi CabieD, you are correct. Salton's Infrared Double Burner Hotplate model HP1269 has independent controlled thermostats. Turn either control dial to the 'off ' position if it's not needed.

New model works great
Mine did have the burner issue as mentioned in another review but they replaced it and this one seems like an updated model and works even better!

Doesn’t last more than 4 months
I have bought 2 of these in past and both of them stopped working after 4-5 months. So disappointing. Big left burner stops working after couple months. Same issue i had with previous one.

Love this product!! I like that I can change the temperature individually!
