Not as Modular as Advertised

This desk is not functional as-is if you want to have it in an L-formation. I'm not sure if it was simply an error with the product I received or an issue across the board, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not construct the desk as desired. The issue was that the central shelf, which connects the two desk-tops, does not have enough ports to support the three beams needed for the top. There are only two, so the inmost corner is completely unattached to the base of the desk (photo with the purple circle). The instructions I received go through the entire construction for the side-to-side configuration and then have a single graphic that implies you can simply swivel the parts around. In the end, after having several other people put eyes on it to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious, I purchased some brackets and braces to join the two parts together. The assembly nearly did my head in, though.
