Q: Can I borwn the meat on high before I use the timer to cook it?

submitted by Sharon - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. No, you cannot brown meat directly in the Crock‑Pot 7‑Quart Cook & Carry Programmable Easy‑Clean Slow Cooker, even on High. This model doesn’t have a stovetop‑safe or sauté‑capable cooking pot, so using it to brown meat can damage the unit. For best results, brown the meat in a skillet on the stovetop first, then transfer it to the slow cooker and set your timer as usual. This gives you better flavor and keeps the appliance safe. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via our Contact Us form on our website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Crockpot® Consumer Care

Q: How should I clean the inside basin of the crockpot?

submitted by equinox - 6 months ago
  • A: Hello, Great question! For your Crock‑Pot 7 Qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy‑Clean Slow Cooker, here’s how to clean the inside basin (the removable ceramic insert): 1. Always unplug the slow cooker and let the stoneware cool completely before cleaning. 2. The removable insert and lid are both dishwasher-safe, or you can wash them by hand in hot, soapy water. 3. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Use a soft cloth, sponge, or rubber spatula to remove food residue. 4. If you notice water spots or stains, you can remove them using a non‑abrasive cleaner or a little white vinegar. 5. Be careful about sudden temperature changes — don’t wash the hot insert with cold water, since that can crack the ceramic. If you’re dealing with really stubborn build-up, you can also try a 1:1 mix of water and white vinegar, heating it on low for about 30 minutes, then letting it cool and wiping the interior clean. If you have any other questions, our team is happy to help via Messenger or by phone at 1-800-323-9519, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time. Sincerely, —Crock-Pot Consumer Care

Q: Is it safe to use the crockpot if there's a hairline crack?

submitted by equinox - 6 months ago
  • A: Hello, Thanks for asking. We don’t recommend using the Crock-Pot 7 Qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy-Clean Slow Cooker if there’s a hairline crack in the stoneware insert. Even small cracks can weaken structural integrity, causing the crock to break under heat or thermal stress. For your safety and to protect your cooker, it’s best to stop using the cracked insert and replace it with a new, genuine Crock-Pot stoneware replacement. If you need further assistance, you can contact us via Messenger or at 1-800-323-9519. Our team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time. We’re committed to addressing any concerns you may have. Best regards, —Crock-Pot Consumer Care

  • A: Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding our 7qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy-Clean Slow Cooker. We are sorry to hear that your slow cooker is scratched after a single use. Ceramic insert cracked/can’t find a replacement

Writing a long term review. We have had this for over three years. It has worked well until yesterday when the ceramic insert cracked almost completely in half within a few minutes of turning it on. Impossible to find a replacement insert for it, ceramic or otherwise. Other issues include the ceramic insert developing chips here and there and the warmer unit having some kind of broken off piece rattling around in the bottom. Otherwise we loved the programmable timer and the easy clean up with the ceramic coated insert. Had to buy a whole unit replacement however. Hope the insert lasts longer than this one did. Three stars for the failure and lack of replacement parts available.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your long-term experience. We’re sorry to hear about the ceramic insert cracking and the difficulty in finding a replacement, especially after several years of use. We understand how frustrating that can be. Unfortunately, we do not have the part number available, and the model appears to be obsolete and discontinued. You may try searching for the replacement part using the model number SCCPVL610-S-ABR, and for the ceramic insert, the SKU# 164524000090. You might be able to find it through third-party retailers or parts suppliers. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly via our official website — we’re always here to help! https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us Warm regards, Crock-Pot Consumer Care Team

    Turns itself off

Unit would turn itself off. Once timer was up, unit would turn off instead of automatically turning to keep warm. If I used low or high without a timer, it would also turn off after 30-60 minutes. I learned the hard way and had to throw away a whole meal.

Hi there, I’m very sorry to hear about your experience with your Crock-Pot 7qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy-Clean Slow Cooker Stainless Steel—especially having to throw away a full meal. I understand how frustrating that must have been. Based on your description, the unit should automatically switch to the Keep Warm function once the timer ends, and it should not turn off during use on Low or High. Here are a few quick troubleshooting steps you can try: 1. Check the power connection: Ensure the unit is securely plugged into a working outlet and not connected to a loose extension cord. 2. Inspect the lid and stoneware placement: Make sure both are properly seated, as misalignment can sometimes affect operation. 3. Reset the unit: Unplug the slow cooker, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in and try again. 4. Avoid overfilling: Keep contents between half and three-quarters full for proper performance. If the issue continues after trying these steps, it may indicate a fault with the unit. We recommend submitting a warranty claim through our official website so our team can assist you further and work toward a resolution. Thank you for bringing this to our attention—we’re here to help. We’re available Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM ET. Thanks, Crock-Pot Consumer Care

Large capacity and lockable lid to prevent spills

We are a family of 5. This 7 quart size is perfect for my family size. We are also a very busy family. Children play sports year round. Most nights include work or school then practice or a game. My crockpot is my saving grace. I use it multiple times a week. I have owned a few crockpots in my lifetime. This one is my favorite. The size is spacious for lots of veggies & protein of choice. It cooks faster than the previous ones I have owned. It does not make a sounds while it quicks. The lid is great because you can lock it if you are bringing a meal on the go.

Hello Angela! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Crock‑Pot® 7‑Qt Cook & Carry Programmable Slow Cooker. We’re truly sorry to hear about the odor you noticed while using the unit — that’s not the experience we want for any Consumer. A few quick tips may help identify or resolve the issue: 1. Wash the stoneware and lid thoroughly with warm, soapy water to remove any possible manufacturing residue. 2. Wipe the heating base with a damp cloth (do not submerge). 3. Try a test run by filling the stoneware halfway with water and heating on High for 1–2 hours. This can help clear any residual odors. 4. Make sure the stoneware is seated properly in the base. 5. Avoid using the unit near walls, vents, or drafts, as trapped heat can intensify smells. If the issue continues, since the purchase was made through Target, we recommend following up with their customer care team for assistance with a refund or replacement according to their policies. That said, we’re here to help however we can on our end. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly through our website or LiveChat so our team can review your case and assist with the best possible resolution. Teflon coating started peeling off after 6 months, holds odors in the coating. Boils and burns food on low setting. My old crockpot lasted 15-20 years, I am careful with appliances. Don't buy, not with it!

    Broke fast.

Worked fine. The 2 times we used it. Then, just sitting on the counter... boom! Lid shatters. Headed back to the store... hope it was a fluke since we only had it 3 weeks.

Hello Angel Thanks for your comment. We’re really sorry to hear about this experience with the Crock-Pot 7qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy-Clean Slow Cooker, as the tempered glass lid is designed to handle normal cooking use and countertop conditions. While breakage like this is very uncommon, sudden temperature changes, small imperfections, or accidental stress on the glass can sometimes cause tempered glass to shatter unexpectedly, even when the cooker isn’t actively in use. We understand how frustrating that must be, especially with a product that’s only a few weeks old, and returning it to the store is the fastest way to resolve the issue, this does appear to be an isolated defect rather than expected performance. Please reach out to us via our "Contact Us" form on our official website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Have a great day, —Crock-Pot Consumer Care

I'm very happy with this 7-quart crock pot. It does exactly what I need and has become a regular part of my kitchen routine. The programmable timer is the best feature. I can add ingredients in the morning, set the cook time, and not worry about it. It switches to "warm" automatically, so dinner is ready when I am without being overcooked. It's incredibly easy to use. Cleanup is just as easy as cooking. The stoneware pot and glass lid are dishwasher-safe, which is a huge time-saver after a meal. The 7-quart size is ideal for big batches of chili, soups, roasts, or pulled pork—perfect for my family and for having leftovers. I managed to get this on sale, and for the price, it offers fantastic value for a reliable, heavy-duty appliance. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a no-fuss, large-capacity slow cooker that works great and is simple to clean.

    Dont buy. Seasoned cook here.

I have owned many crockpots. I had one JUST like this years before that was perfect. I bought another one due to a family member breaking the original but it seems they have changed the making even though the crock pots look the same. I bought this one two years. Ever since I noticed I can not make all of the same dishes I used to. It runs hot even on low. And if you make anything thick.. bigger meat, lasagna etc it will burn and stick to the pot. Even items that aren’t thick I notice a taste in the food from the pot itself. The lining of it has come off. I have tried changing the cook time lower and have not had relief. The timer digitally speaking works and changes mode on its own to warm when done. Cord and button mechanically “work”. It just depends on if you want editable food or not. I spent this money not long after burying a child so I’ve duked out owning it.. I needed a new one for another child’s birthday party. It’s sad. Honestly I don’t know why this item isn’t pulled off the shelves. If I didn’t know myself I’d say this reviewer doesn’t know how to work a crock pot but don’t shy away from me dear reader.. take your money and shy away from the product as they are making money hand over fist on our purchase’s!

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Crock-Pot® 7qt Cook & Carry Programmable Easy-Clean Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel. I’m truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve had with this unit, especially given your past positive experience with a similar model. Way too hot.

Here to reiterate the same comments as below. I haven’t used it on hot yet, but it has boiled on low and keep warm. Luckily it hasn’t ruined any food of mine, but for a slow cooker, this is too unreliable and frankly unsafe to leave unattended.
