The husband and I brought this for our twins birthday. And they love it!! We can NOT go to bed without story time. Im so happy they now have a toy they love together.

Good idea, bad execution
I was disappointed by this. Getting the stories to focus is challenging and constantly requires refocusing the viewer between slides

After reading reviews, is why I purchased this product for my granddaughter. It does not read along with the story. I waited too long to return. I had bought more cartridges and a holder for it. Quite the little investment for it not to work properly.

Family heirloom
I was eyeing this for almost 2 years and finally got it for my newly 4yr old. It’s an investment, considering the books are around $17 for 3, you’ll need a storage case eventually, and this last part is optional but it works best with an additional part ($15-20) that helps it tilt while playing so you don’t have to prop it up. My girl usually gets frustrated when things are hard to pull out (like the book cartridge) but it’s not that hard and she figured it out and how to work the whole machine in less than 2 nights. We love to do “story movies” at night and it’s great for the bathtub too. Some reviews complained about the visual quality but it’s pretty good. And I think this toy will last for years and become like an heirloom. Some folks also mentioned being annoyed that it can’t be a play-alone toy but it may be due to younger age. My daughter loves to play with this together every night but she also can play with it alone. I wish the books were cheaper and there were more options but it’s great so far. Tip: you can turn the light on and off by gently tapping it.

Our 2.5 year old loves this!! I plan to get this for gifts for my niece and friends. I get what people are saying about the focus issue but it’s really not that bad. We have used this every night since Christmas

Disappointing toy
We were excited about this toy but it was very disappointing. To start the packaging is incredibly hard to get into. When you get the projector out it is hard to focus. You have to refocus the slides each time it switches to a new one. I even returned this and tried a new projector to see if the focusing issue would be resolved. It was not, it still does not focus easily or stay focused. This is something an adult has to sit with kids to use. The company also put a sticker on the spot you need to push to eject the cartridges and the sticky residue won't come off. Fisher Price can do better and they need to re design this toy to work better.

Regret Buying This - More Frustrating than Fun
I bought this for my 3 year old for Christmas, and I highly regret it. The concept is great and we were so excited, but this thing has so many flaws that it’s more annoying than fun. The switch on the back has demo mode, off, and on. The demo mode is LOUD, and my child switches it to that mode by accident all the time. There’s a way to adjust the focus when watching the stories but, once you get it perfect and it turns to the next page, it’s blurry again. Every page l have to adjust even though no one is touching the projector. The books are so hard to push into the slot to play them, so toddlers will likely need help. Mine gets frustrated that she can’t play with this on her own. The speakers on this are bad quality as well. The light on the back of it when it’s on is so bright in the dark that it hurts our eyes and we have to cover it with a towel. I really do not recommend this toy. Maybe for an older kid, but I still feel like it’s not worth it.

Story Dream Machine, a big hit with all the kids!
I purchased the Story Dream Machine for all my small neices and nephews for Christmas! They all loved the projectors, what a big hit.. I received the cutest videos of all the kids thanking me for their present. A big hit, I would highly recommend this toy!!

I rarely ever write reviews but this toy let me down. Such a cool/fun idea for toddlers but figuring out how to get the story to match with the display is impossible and exhausting. It takes way too long to load each story and it never starts on the first page of the story. Dont even bother wasting your money on it.

Overall Happy
This was one of the top items my 7 year old had been asking for. He LOVES it. It does have some downfalls though. Getting the books in and out of the slot, he has a really hard time with. The picture quality can also differ from picture to picture in a book which is a little irritating. It’s also pretty noisy when switching between pages. We do love that it can also be used as just a sound machine.

Honest review for a Christmas 2025 gift
This was bought for my 3 year old son. We've been wanting it for awhile since we love reading so much and in theory it's a product that could be great but the quality of the imagine projected is poor. It's had to find a good focus so you're forced to strain your eyes in order to see what you're read and looking at.
