[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second one I had to buy. The first one broke. It lasted only a year and the latch assembly disintegrated inside the door. The handle and lock assembly was ok but the latch assembly simply fell apart. It is rated as commercial, installed on a commercial steel exterior door. But use is average. It should have held up longer. Im assuming it was a defective latch. To get it out of the door it had to be cut apart because it couldn't slide out when unscrewed.

The functionality is smooth and has a high quality feel in operation! The finish is very nice! The durability is outstanding, feels very strong and stable! The precision of the fit is perfect, easily mounting in the existing slot. This lock set is replacing a round ball-type lock set which degraded over time with use. The lever is ergonomically easier to use. Upon on closing and locking the Schlage Elan Lever for the first time, the security of this lock set became immediately apparent, with solid engagement and no slop in the fit. I am extremely pleased with the purchase of the light commercial Schlage Elan Lever in the satin chrome finish!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to install. IS IT NORMAL TO HEAR THE MECHANISM UNLOCK? THIS DOESN'T SEEM NORMAL. This doesn't seem like a solid "light" commercial lock. We purchased this lever handled lock due to disability involving hands and ability to turn knobs. We wanted a keyless entry lock but due to window clearance, we had to go with keyed locked unless we wanted to purchase a new door. It would be great if there was a design that allowed the keypad below the lock. I even spoke with a professional locksmith and he has many customers whose doors don't have the clearance and can't afford to purchase another door.
