A: It does not whistle when heated. Also you can only fill it a third of the way otherwise the water boils out of the spout and it shoots everywhere. It is dangerous too.

A: It's not stupid at all. I am not sure if they understand the difference themselves. At the store, the tag says "teapot" while on the website it says "tea kettle." It's why I haven't purchased it myself. But I suspect it's a teapot to brew and not meant to go on the stove.
