The paint on the bottom of the kettle began peeling and flaking after approximately 18 months of use. It also made a acrid and unpleasant smell when heating. I contacted Cuisinart and they told me that it was a "cosmetic" issue not covered by the warranty and that is should clean the kettle interior. Extremely disappointed not just in the quality of the item but in the quality of the service. Will be looking to avoid cuisinart products in the future.

It heats fine, pours well, and we like the spout design, but the paint began peeling from the bottom and around the lid after the second use. More paint peels off whenever we wash it. It's also prone to rust on the inside, which if you don't scrub your water boiler once a day can go unnoticed. Wish I'd spent a few extra bucks on a better kettle; I wanted this one to last us years.

Kettle Bottom is Peeling!
I have only had this kettle for 9 months. The bottom is peeling and flaking and emits an awful smell. It took me a bit to identify that the kettle bottom was the source of the toxic smell. In the trash it goes. I would have expected much more from a top brand like Cuisinart. What a shame.
