Parodontax Active Gum Repair Toothpaste - Breath Freshener - 3.4oz/3pk

I have been using Parodontax for years – it was recommended to me when I switched dentists about ten years ago and I figured that I might as well give it a whirl. I’ve tried a few of their products, usually based on what’s available in store, but have purchased the Active Gum Repair toothpaste most often. Up until recently, I have been happy with this product, and with Parodontax in general. But something has changed, and I’m not quite sure what. The last 3 or 4 I’ve purchased have seemed different (and not in a good way). At first I wondered if the cap design had changed, but then I found an older tube and after comparing new vs. old, though the tube/cap has indeed changed slightly, I don’t think that’s it. I now suspect that it is toothpaste itself. The texture seems much thinner and more fluid than it used to; it almost pours out of the tube. Every time I open it, it drips all over my hands and sink, making a sticky mess. I am forever rinsing out the “shoulders” (for lack of a better term) and cap. This was never a problem before. I’ve started storing it upside down (cap end up) which does seem to help, but that does not really correct the issue, it just reduces the mess. I tried switching to another toothpaste in the Parodontax lineup and, disappointingly, continued to have this problem. I’ve enjoyed using the brand and I’ve been happy with the positive effects its products have had on my oral health, but I’m sorry to say that I think it’s time for me to switch to another brand.

I have been going through so much stress induced and this formula is very well done nourishing and cleansing. It really does a good job cleaning and minimizing any residue on teeth. Very good.

The mint is strong but not in a bad way, it just leaves my breath fresh for a long time. The texture is good not weird or anything lol. It’s packaged very nicely and I like that it’s actually affordable! I wasn’t expecting to like it this much lol but it’s actually really good. So far it does apply easily and does foam pretty well to get that teeth clean feel . I did think it was kinda chalky tasting but have gotten use to it so far . [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used Parodontax products many times before, and they are great for fighting gum problems and other issues. I do prefer this over other brands because of its more effective, affordable and easy to find. This particular version of the product was new to me. I enjoyed the flat cap design because it made it easier to store and handle. The breath refresher feature was not so noticeable to me. I didn’t really experience anything different compared with other toothpastes, even including the ones of this same brand. The flavor I would describe as fresh and minty but mild, almost like a herbal flavor rather than the most common extra-strong mint flavors. One of the minor issues I experienced was the amount of foam produced when brushing. The paste makes abundant foam, which can be great for some and kind of annoying and hard to balance for others. I include myself in the last group lol, it was kind of uncomfortable to hold and manage all that foam even when I reduced the amount of paste used. The product rinses well and easily, though. So, it’s more of a sensory and personal preference rather than a performance issue.

It makes it sound like it's not just for the average person who wants healthy gums, but like it's something you use as directed by your dentist or periodontist. But what's in a name? So I decided to really give it a try, I used almost the whole tube before writing this review. The verdict is in! I do NOT like this toothpaste and would not recommend it, nor purchase it myself, even if it was half the price of my current paste. It was so runny and oozed out of the tube the second you opened the lid, no matter which angle you held the tube. Applying it to your toothbrush was like a race against gravity to get the runny blob of product onto the bristles instead of straight down the drain. The tube was a mess, the sink was a mess, it made life a mess.
