Once great tasting ow not so much.
We have been buying Silk Unsweetened Soy Milk for years now. We go through probably 2 quarts a week. The new formula is just not good. We thought it was a bad batch at first. We just want to add our voices to the growing call to change it back! Leaving 3 stars instead of 1 because it has been our go to for so long.

Something Happened
I bought the soy milk and it tasted very strange. I cannot even put a description on it. It's nasty. I went to another store to get some, and it tastes the same. I think maybe there's a bad batch. Maybe something accidentally got poured in there that wasn't supposed to. This is something you should know.

Plastic jugs
I have been using silk soy for ever. I like the nutritional value and the taste. I also like the wax carton. Lately I find the silk soy sold in plastic jugs. This seems like you’re going in the wrong direction. The problem with plastics is huge and no remedy is in sight. I won’t buy silk soy in plastic jugs.

taste like the cheaper stuff, why pay more
regardless of whether it organic or not, the move from the green to red label made this product taste like the cheap generic soy milk I avoid. so after years, its time to say goodbye. stay away, don't believe me try it yourselves if you've used the 'green' one in the past.

New formula makes it undrinkable
I will reflect what many other people are reporting this week, that the updates to the formula make it completely undrinkable. It was the only think I liked in my coffee for years, and now I'm back to the drawing board. So disappointed.

We're truly sorry that this has been your experience with our product! While we updated Silk Soymilk to provide even more nutrition, such as 8g of plant-based protein per serving and added nutrients, we aimed to keep the same delicious taste. Given that this has not been your experience, we will bring your feedback to our team so they can better understand what Silk fans are looking for! - Jack at Silk

new formula ruins the taste!
i’ve been a loyal customer for 6 years, then to my surprise i noticed that the flavor of my favorite milk alternative is off! This new formula is NOT GOOD. It tastes like a completely different product and there is a really strange and unappetizing aftertaste. Bring back the old formula! We do not want or need an extra 2 grams of protein if it tastes this bad. I don’t know if yall did this to join in on the protein obsession people have on social media, or if you did this to lower your costs, but it’s not what your customers want! With the formula change and the price increases, I don’t think i will continue buying your products anymore anytime soon. I have loved this brand of soy milk for years so i’m very disappointed, and judging by the comments i’m not the only one.

Wasn't Broken
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Silk is the only brand of soy milk that carries a non flavored non sweetened soy milk. It was perfect. The only non dairy milk I bought. You broke it. Please fix it back.

Go back to old formula
I usually love Silk, but I had to come here to write a review. The green, unsweetened soy milk was perfect, but now it has this horrible bitter aftertaste. Not sure if this is a formula change or what. The first time it tasted like this I assumed it had gone bad and threw it out, but I just bought two more and they tasted just as bad. I drink a lot of soy milk and this has been my go to brand for a long time, so this is really disappointing. If Silk does not return to form, I will sadly have to stop buying it.

Rancid Oil Taste Suddenly
I don’t know what Silk has done differently, but I keep getting cartons that taste like rancid cooking oil. I have thrown at least 7 cartons out and even tried switching stores I buy from. Both the green carton and the red unsweetened varieties. I am going to stop buying Silk products, for good if they don’t correct this. But I am definitely not buy any Silk products in the near future. The milk has been undrinkable.

Nothing special
I used to drink this before I made the switch to almond milk. I don’t really care for the brand as much but it’s good. I can’t complain about the texture since it’s smooth which is really nice

Changed ingredients???
I use to buy Silk unsweetened soy milk all the time. Took a hiatus and returned this week to find….a change in ingredients? I immediately noticed a change in taste….from being great to just GROSS. Tastes watery and nutty now.

Perfect for young children with dairy allergies
I have two children who are allergic to the protein in dairy milk (this is different than being lactose intolerant) and so as a parent we have been buying Soy milk original for seven years now. My children really love it and I like that it is not sweetened and that it has extra protein for their growth. Buying an alternative product is difficult because my day care requires any milk sent in to be nut free so we are limited in our options. Luckily, this one has held strong as a favorite for many years even as the price has continued to go up. The price is a concern more as the boys get older since we go through about 5 cartons a week which adds up to a significant bill monthly. We do struggle to find this locally as most stores run out of it quickly so we at times have had to check 3 different stores (Kroger, Meijer, and Walmart) just to buy milk for them. I hope you never discontinue the soy milks as this was recommended by our doctor much more than almond milk for our young children.

Tastes great
This has been our go-to milk for years now. I love that it now comes in a large bottle and I don't have to buy a bunch of .5 gallons with the impossible to open cap. My one issue is that this milk is so expensive. Shouldn't it be more affordable if we are buying the larger size? Unfortunately, Target doesn't have their own unsweetened soy milk alternative so this will continue to be what I buy.

Great milk alternative
The Silk Original Soymilk is really good. Dairy bothers me sometimes so I use this place of milk. I like to use this with cereal and my morning coffee. It's very light tasting. It's really good.

Hi! Thanks for your review. Since similar products compete for the same shelf space, stores often limit their offerings to those with the greatest demand. Although the selection of products to be offered for sale is a decision ultimately made by store personnel, we will continue to work to make our products as widely available as possible.

Creating carton garbage!
My family goes through 4 unsweetened silk soy milk cartons a week and we love it. My only concern is the carton is not widely recyclable...our little mountain town being an example. I am wondering if Silk has considered any alternatives to this garbage problem?

Silk’s parent company, Danone North America, recognizes that there is a huge issue around packaging and plastic waste, and we are working hard to improve the environmental impacts of our packaging. You can learn more about our company’s global packaging sustainability goals as part of our Danone Impact Journey: https://www.danone.com/about-danone/sustainable-value-creation/danone-impact-journey.html While today more than three-quarters of our packaging by weight is recyclable, by 2030 we are aiming to use 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging. We’re also working to reduce our use of virgin-fossil-based plastic packaging, by increasing the use of post-consumer recycled materials, and plastic alternatives. Danone is also working to support the development of effective collection systems for plastic packaging. In the US, we’ve invested millions of dollars with groups including Closed Loop Partners and The Recycling Partnership to fund advancements in our nation’s recycling systems. Our cartons are made of about 80% paper, along with layers of plastic film to ensure product protection and freshness. For non-pull rings, as you turn the cap, you may hear a crack and then a pop, which indicates the foil security seal underneath is opening. These cartons are widely recyclable in most communities. Check www.RecycleCartons.com to see if you can recycle these packages in your community. - Jack at Silk

Great milk alternative
Soy milk is one of the best dairy alternatives in my opinion. This option has really high protein per serving and a great taste. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a milk alternative.
