Wood cracks, screws strip

I REALLY wanted to love these stools. They are so appealing, great size, and affordable. Unfortunately they were nearly impossible to get the back seat and base of the seat attached. The pilot holes were not big enough for the screws, and the wood at the base of the seats cracked when attempting to tighten them all the way. This happened on both stools. Also, many screws were stripped. Making it near impossible to tighten them or disassemble them for a return. Ultimately, these will not be safe for my family to use due to the cracking and inability to tighten screws. Currently in the process of attempting a return.
