A: Thank you for your inquiry. For Ottlite's Slimline Task lamp when the arm is straight up & the shade is at a 90 degree angle the shade measures 10.5", however the lamp bends right above the base where there is a coinscrew (with a slit in it) so by bending the lamp at that point, meaning arm is fully extended gives a reach of 14.5". Q: Is the bulb covered or shaded? That is, when the lamp is adjusted to its tallest setting, will I be looking at the bare bulb?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. There is no covering or shade underneath the main shade, covering the bulb. The bulb is located under the top shade of lamp and if the bulb is viewed from underneath the top shade yes, the bulb is exposed to the naked eye.

It states the height being 19 plus inches, if you want to have the light shade in the upright position; not very practical!

The lamp is ok. I like the small footprint. The reach is not long enough for what I need where I use it. I would love it if the base was a little heavier and the folding arm pieces were 4-6" longer. Fully extended forward with light level, it is about 16" from back of base to front of light, and the base has to be fully on a flat surface or it can tilt. Fully upright it's about 22" tall from tabletop to tip of light, with the exposed bulb shining forward. I would recommend it for tabletop work.

Great task light, position is super adjustable, and I love how it folds up! We bought this to illuminate more work areas in the house for remote learning. I wanted something easy to move around the house and that wouldn't take up a lot of room when put away. This lamp is perfect and the quality of light is A+!!

After a few uses, the arm could no longer stay up on its own. I added tape and velcro, which works, but it requires fiddling every time the arm is repositioned. Another solvable problem is that if the light isn't used for a couple weeks, you have to hold the button several seconds, push it repeatedly, etc., but it does eventually turn on again, and responds dependably subsequently. So it has some serious flaws (I'd never give it as a gift), but I like the small footprint.

This is a great option for a workspace; the lamp is compact and offers clear lighting for artists. The light bulb is included in the price, which is something that most lamps do not offer. The lamp comes in two pieces but it is easy to put together, and a small screwdriver was provided by the manufacturer for this task.

I find this product well-suited for a person on a budget who wants a long-lasting lamp that provides high quality lighting at a very minimal cost; even better than most lamps that use fluorescent light bulbs. The bulbs last a very long time even if left on for hours at a time.
Wonderful light, but bulb only lasted 8,000 hours.
