A: The upper compartment on the 5-Shelf Bookcase measures 38" high and the two shelves are adjustable up and down. The lower compartment measures 24 1/4" high and that shelf is also adjustable up and down.

A: The 5-Shelf Bookcase has a weight limit of 25lbs. on each adjustable shelf, a 30lb weight limit on the middle-fixed shelf, and a 40 lb. weight limit on the very bottom.

A: The only tools needed to assemble the Sauder 5-shelf bookcase is a No. 2 Phillips Screwdriver, and hammer. If you would like to utilize the furniture tipping restraint kit that is provided, you would need a drill and pencil.

I am not impressed with the quality of Wood on this product
Poor quality, Chip board. You had to be very careful installing this product and putting it together. Product looks nice after being completed but as I said, you had to be careful putting it together.

I now have 3 of these exact bookcases. I have several other pieces of this line and color and really enjoy them. I've never had any trouble with any of the Sauder products I've owned. I also have other Sauder products in my house. This is a very trusted brand in my opinion.

Poor quality
I found the quality of this bookcase to be lacking. For example, in 1991, I purchased 5 Sauder bookcases . The quality was excellent, the directions were easy to follow. and I was able to assemble all the bookcases by myself. 34 years later, the bookcases are in excellent condition. The current bookcase arrived with chipped pieces. The directions were difficult to follow, and it took an experienced handyman 4 hours to assemble it.

Ugly finish very cheap looking
I hate the finish on this. I don't like how the front fascia on the shelves creates a lip so you can't slide the book off the shelf, you gave to lift it off.

I needed a piece of furniture that matched my mom’s end table’s in a small apartment that she could place various things on. Found this and it worked out perfectly! This is a solid, heavy piece of furniture like it was bought from a furniture store, reasonably priced but just a little difficult to put together since there are a lot of pieces. Once everything was figured out it looked great and fit everything. Overall very happy with the purchase and would recommend.
