I had some joint pain from running so I applied it to my knees and the back of my knees (I didn’t mind the strong mouthwash-like smell). But unfortunately 12 hours later in the middle of the night, I woke up because the back of my knees felt uncomfortably HOT - No visible rash, normal temperature to the touch, but it was like when you sit on metal patio furniture that’s been out in the sun. I immediately tried washing them with soap and water. Relief was temporary. I just had to sleep it off. Woke up without the burning sensation thank goodness! But the whole ordeal was not worth.
Would give a 5 star but just started with this

This arrived yesterday, I put it on my bad knee immediately. I've had knee pain from old injuries for many years now. Believe your doctor when you are warned it will bother 20+ years later. As I got older arthritis set in. I tried many "remedies". I saw this trusted brand name advertised incoupon flyer & decided to see if Target carried it. After the 1st (easy to do) application, I could feel some relief in a short time. So, at bedtime, I reapplied it & slept comfortably. When I woke up, I applied some more. It is now almost suppertime & it still feels good. This is NOT a cure & they don't claim it to be one. I can still feel the underlying swelling & some pain BUT if you're dealing with chronic pain over a long time, this may work for you. One thing I haven't heard is any crinkling in my kneecap today & I've been able to bend my knee without wincing. Carried the laundry down 3 stairs without a problem (no holding onto the wall). NOTE: it smells like Peppermint Lifesavers, but not a heavy, cloying odor some other ointments have that announce you before you get in the room. There was an offer at the time so I bought 2 (25% off the 2nd one). I'm glad I took a chance on this item. I'm hoping I'll be able to change my rating to 5 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pain reliever works fantastic for my aches and pains. I don't particularly like the packaging, the lid is not secure enough. It is long lasting and does not have an offensive scent. Overall I think the price is right and it's a great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did enjoy this product because it was topical and it did seem to provide some relief. The packaging was nice and clear and the price was reasonable. It wasn't an unpleasant strength and it started to work pretty quickly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested this cream after an intense workout and also for some mild arthritis pain in my knee. The cooling and heating combination definitely provided noticeable relief within minutes. While the effect wasn’t as strong as a prescription-strength topical, it did help reduce discomfort, especially for muscle and joint stiffness. However, for severe pain, it might not be a standalone solution. Scent Like most topical pain relievers, Advil Targeted Relief has a noticeable menthol and camphor scent. It’s not overwhelming, but if you’re sensitive to strong smells, it might be a factor to consider. Pros & Cons ✔️ Pros: ✓ Fast-acting cooling & warming sensation ✓ Easy application with massage option ✓ Non-greasy & absorbs well ✓ Provides relief for mild to moderate pain ❌ Cons: ✗ Scent may be strong for some users ✗ Might not be enough for severe pain ✗ Price is slightly higher than similar creams Final Verdict If you’re looking for a convenient, over-the-counter pain relief cream that provides long-lasting comfort for minor aches and pains, Advil Targeted Relief is definitely worth trying. While it may not completely replace oral painkillers or prescription-strength creams for severe pain, it’s a solid topical solution for everyday soreness.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This did not do anything at all for my knee pain. The packaging was simple and small. I'm not sure how much this is, so I'm not sure what to say about the value money. It did have a slight smell to it, but it's not overpowering .
Surprisingly more pleasant than I expected a pain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very pleased with the scent, which was actually somewhat pleasant. And the skin feel surprised me. I expected to feel uncomfortable...I don't like *feels* left over from creams. But it didn't make me feel like I had to wash my hands every time they brushed the areas I used it. That's huge for me. The pain relief was about average. What you generally expect for OTC topical meds.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is comparable to icy hot. I happen to love the smell of menthol so I enjoyed the scent. It relieved my pain with a slight tingly feeling.

The cream burned my skin! I used in the evening on my lower back and it made my skin itchy and too warm. Had to try and use cold water and then an ice pack to ease the reaction.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Usually use other brands but this honestly works great. With sore muscles, this was a life saver. My husband has sensitive skin and he was totally fine using it as well. Would definitely get again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a runner, I am used to having sore joints and muscles aches. This Advil targeted relief gel is perfect for those trouble areas that need a little bit of love! Just a small amount goes a long way! I apply it to my sore muscles and it feels amazing! It gives a little icy-hot sensation and immediately I feel relief on the sore spot. The smell isn't overwhelming, either, which I appreciate. I love the convenience of this small tube and I can definitely see buying more of this in the future!

My husband bought this product for me at the store last night. He was looking for advil dual action and stumbled across this targeted relief cream. He got it for me to try because I’ve been having knee pain and so far nothing had been able to really relieve it. Well at first I loved it after I tried it because it actually did help with my knee pain. It went from barely being able to bend it and not being able to straighten it out all the way and walking with a limp to being able to straighten it out all the way and bend it further than I could before. I was ready to rave about the product actually. Until I woke up with the back of my knee BURNING. It’s been burning for hours now and I don’t know how to make the burning stop. So I go to Google to look for the side effects of this crap, and what’s the first thing that pops up? The dang cream can cause red patches, itching, or burning skin. I will most definitely never be using this product again. And I will most definitely be checking my box and my tube to see if that warning is on there. Because if it’s not, Advil we have a big problem.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family absolutely loves this cream. It literally targets the area that's in pain and relieves it. I personally cannot put menthol products on my skin, so I had my beautiful mother stand in as our physical reviewer.
