At least it's nice to look at...
I am giving this phone one star, and that one star is purely for the titanium finish, which is indeed very pretty and would make a lovely paperweight for someone living a more emotionally stable life than I currently do. Everything else? ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to hand a neurodivergent person a $1500 device engineered specifically to taunt their sense of order, congratulations, YOU’VE DONE IT. The Today View and App Library: A Horror Story in Two Acts I turned on this phone expecting smooth, intuitive, customizable Apple magic. Instead, I was greeted by two mandatory screens , “Today View” and “App Library”, that cannot be removed, hidden, renamed, organized, or otherwise prevented from inserting themselves into my personal space. I swipe left? Boom. A screen I didn’t ask for, didn’t consent to, and cannot escape. I swipe right? Boom. Another screen, this one apparently arranged by a caffeinated toddler who organizes apps based on vibes rather than logic. It’s like buying a house and learning two random strangers also live there and will be joining you for breakfast every morning, and Apple says, “You’ll get used to it.” App Library: Alphabetical? Logical? No? Cool cool cool. I tried to sort my apps alphabetically, a very normal thing for a brain built on patterns, categorization, and “please just let my icons sit still for five seconds.” Apple said: “Drag them one by one manually.” I said: “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” This phone has 1TB of storage. That means it expects me to manually drag hundreds of apps into position like a medieval scribe illuminating a manuscript by candlelight. This is not organization. This is punishment for crimes I have not yet committed. The Forced Blur: My Villain Arc Officially Begins Who decided the edges of the interface needed to look like someone smeared Vaseline on a window? Why can’t I turn it off? Why must everything become fuzzy like a dream sequence every time I accidentally swipe wrong? If I wanted my phone to look like a flashback scene in a soap opera, I would have asked. My Brain is Chihuahua Mode. This Phone is Pit Bull World. If you’re neurotypical, these issues may seem like minor inconveniences. If you’re neurodivergent? This phone is a sensory and organizational jump scare. It is everything we try to avoid: Unpredictable layout Forced screens Visual clutter No control No structure No option to turn off the chaos This phone has the emotional energy of someone coming into your clean kitchen and “reorganizing” everything because “it just makes sense this way.” The Moment I Knew I Was Done My husband asked why I didn’t just “ignore those screens.” At that moment, I realized two things: I am neurodivergent. Apple is not. Final Verdict This is a gorgeous, wildly powerful phone created with absolutely zero thought for how neurodivergent brains function. If Apple ever adds: customizable App Library ability to disable Today View an option to turn off blur alphabetical sorting or literally ANY organizational settings that don’t require me to drag icons like I'm playing neurodivergent Jenga …then I will happily return. Until then, I will be over here with my $35 Walmart Android, drinking coffee, petting my emotional support pet, and recovering from the emotional damage inflicted upon me by the most beautiful stressor I have ever purchased. tl;dr — Pretty phone. Terrible design. Do not recommend unless your brain runs on chaos mode. Mine does not.

Charging cables
Why do you switch the plug in ports on models? I purchase exactly what I need then a couple models later I can’t keep using. I do not appreciate this about Apple. Can’t you make them less slick? Add some grip to the phones! Hey..you asked my opinion!

16 pro max is junk
Thought the new iPhone would have better reception than my old iPhone. The one that was 5yrs old was 10x better! This new one is junk! I can’t even talk on the phone in my own house I have to go outside. Talking on the phone come winter will be fun. I’ve been down to the att store 3 times already about this issue and each time nothing fixed the problem! The reception on the phone is horrible! I’m glad I only upgraded 1 of my families phones. I have 3 other phones that need to be upgraded but I refuse to since att hasn’t fixed the problem.

Just Not Feeling It
Really nothing special, seems to have more problems than previous iPhones. Seems like the more advanced these phones supposedly get the worse they become. iPhone 6&7 were great. What happened? Marketing has taken the place of reliability and cost has gotten out of hand. Just Not Feeling it!

Hopelessly lost
This is the 3rd time I’ve changed from Samsung to Apple, the 1st two experiences didn’t go too well, this time I really thought the change would be different, but I’m now wishing I would’ve stayed with Samsung. I want readers to know that the issue is with me , this phone is a great piece of technology. I wouldn’t want anyone to pass up on going with Apple when it’s their time , one of the biggest issues are my eyes, everything is too small.

Hey there, we appreciate you sharing your honest feedback on the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max - 1TB. We understand how challenging it can feel to switch devices, especially when it's the third time making the change, and that past experiences haven’t been easy. It’s clear you appreciate the quality of Apple’s technology, and it’s completely understandable that personal comfort—like screen readability—plays a big role in how much we enjoy using our devices. If the text size or display feels too small, you might find adjusting the display settings, using accessibility features, or even exploring apps that can help with screen magnification very helpful. Your honest perspective will definitely help others make informed decisions!

Haywire Passcode
One day the phone went haywire and would not accept my passcode. It actually locked me out for those days. Then as suddenly as it began, it stopped.

Hey there, we appreciate you sharing your experience about your device. We understand how frustrating it must be when your phone suddenly went haywire and locked you out for several days. We can imagine how upsetting it felt to be unable to access your phone during that time, especially when you rely on it daily, thankfully, since the issue has stopped as suddenly as it began, we can now work together to ensure your phone functions smoothly moving forward or you can also consider contacting Apple Support for further assistance. Meanwhile, here are troubleshooting steps that you can try from your end and see if it makes any changes: 1.Restart your iPhone: This can often resolve temporary glitches that may prevent the device from recognizing the passcode. 2.Use Recovery Mode: Connect your iPhone to a computer, turn on your device, and immediately press and hold the appropriate button combination (side button + volume up for newer models, side button + home button for older models) until you see the Apple logo. This will put your iPhone in recovery mode, allowing you to reset it. 3.Restore to Factory Settings: If the above steps do not work, you may need to restore your iPhone to factory settings. This will erase all data on the device, so ensure you have a backup of your important information. 4.Check for Software Updates: Sometimes, an iOS update can cause issues with passcode recognition. Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS.

Not impressed
I’m not impressed with it. I upgraded, because my iPhone 13 kept overheating. The iPhone 16 also overheats, and it is glitchy at times. I will definitely be upgrading again as soon as possible. Hopefully the next one will be a better improvement.
1 reply from AT&T CARE team - 6 months ago
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We understand the frustration when a new upgrade doesn’t resolve issues like overheating and glitches, especially when you hoped it would be an improvement. We recommend keeping your software updated to the latest version and checking for any background apps that might impact performance. If these issues persist, connecting with Apple Support or your AT&T service team can provide tailored assistance to help optimize your device. We want to reassure you that all Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max devices come with a 12-month limited warranty covering manufacturer defects. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue to improve the experience for all our customers.

Best Upgrade Ever
Love the new features. Awesome new camera functions, it’s rivaling my Canon SLR! Painless conversion from 13 Pro Max with definite upgrades. Satellite connectivity, wow! Very happy with this phone. The only comment I have is I wish the back was darker more like the edges (I have the desert titanium) but love it anyway! :)
