  • A: This is the "no Gen assigned" pencil :) . It's AFTER 1st Gen & 2nd Gen and SHOULD be the 3rd Gen but NOPE. It's the USB-C "Gen" lol! After USB-C "Gen" is called Pro, abandoning Generation altogether.

  • A: They go: 1st generation, 2nd generation, USB-C "generation", then Pro "generation". Don't try to make sense of it but there are actually 4 generations...only 2 have the generation 'nomenclature'.

Ordered this bc the battery on my Apple Pencil pro died after losing it and not charging for a few months. The USBC version is much lighter, and works just as well as the pro for simple note taking. Much prefer this version that does not rely on the iPad to charge.

The USB-C charge feature is super inconvenient. Returned and purchased an old 2nd gen pencil that charges magnetically to replace my old 2nd gen pencil that I dropped on the tip and broke. I don’t see why the USB-C model couldn’t charge magnetically AND via the USB-C for iPads that can’t magnetically charge them… just my opinion though…

Not sure why a lot of people had a hard time connecting! I have 10th gen and I just plugged the pencil up with my iPad charger into the port and it paired right away. No problems at all! 10/10 worth it. If you’re thinking about buying, get it!

I liked this Apple Pencil a lot more then I thought I would. I contemplated for a while if I would use it enough to justify buying it especially for the price its sold for. I took the plunge and bought it. I am shocked of how much I use it. More then I thought I would. It's fun to write with. I love how it has the usb-c right in it without having to have the extra connectors the 1st gen pencil has. I love how it also magnetically clips on the iPad itself. I wanted that on the pencil and wasn't crazy that the 1st gen didn't have that. I'm glad the tech rep brought out the usb-c pencil instead of the 1st gen like I originally asked for. My only cons I have found is it can be uncomfortable to hold for a long period of time, it also has some trouble with writing where it will jump before or between a word instead of at the end of the word so what ever you are trying to write will get scrambled within the previous word and not at the end of the word. You then have to bring the keyboard back up and fix it that way. It is a cool accessory and fun to use.
