Avene Cicalfate+ Intensive Skin Restorative Face Serum: Paraben-Free, Deep Hydration, Unscented, 13.2 Net Weight

I’ve used this product for awhile and it’s great for keeping my rosacea flares under control/soothing my skin. However, the newer packaging makes this product impossible to travel with or keep closed. The dropper top will not stay screwed down, so you have to be careful when picking up the product because it isn’t secure. This also means you can’t travel with the product because it spills. Worst, this means your product is exposed to air and potentially not as effective. Please, please, please change packaging again.

Not enough moisture compared to the cream.

Should be good for sensitive compromised skin. Currently I have that so ran to the store to get this and the cream. Nothing but burning and stinging so bringing it back.

The ingredients did change so please read. It now contains propanediol, an ingredient that I am allergic to. The previous version did not.

I’m so frustrated with what Avène is doing lately. First they ruined the original Extremely Gentle Cleansing Lotion; Tolerance Emulsion, Fragrance free Facial gel wash,, and now this "Recovery" serum is a nightmare if your barrier is actually compromised or if you use Retin-A.They packed this with a synthetic gel thickener (Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer) and heavy glycols. If your skin is raw or thinned out at all, those glycols drag that taurate polymer deep into your skin way too fast.The second it hit my chin, it triggered intense, fiery chemical burning, stinging, and bright red flushing. It literally shocks your nerve endings. I had to rush to the sink to wash it. Avène used to be trusted because their formulas were bare-bones, inert, and safe. Now, they are ruining their brand just to chase trendy, lightweight gel textures. If your skin is genuinely reactive, skip this completely. Avène, please go back to the safe, simple chemistry that actually made you famous!

I tried this because my daughter loves the Cicalfate cream. I like the restorative skin barrier properties. It is lightweight and absorbs well.

I never write reviews, but this product deserves one. My facial skin is very odd in that products that generally work for most people do not work for me. The usual suggestion of using a thick ceramide cream/moisturizer to repair the skin barrier does not work for me, and those moisturizers just sit on the top of my skin causing my skin to become irritated, especially in the perioral region. Hyaluronic acid and niacinamide do not work for me either. Even gentle skin cleaners or even cleansing with just water causes my face to dry out and become irritated. I used this at night and the irritated feeling around my mouth region stopped right away. I have been using this in the AM and PM just to keep my skin relieved.

This serum has become an essential part of my post‑procedure and recovery routine. It delivers instant soothing and deep hydration while absorbing quickly into the skin. I especially love using it after laser treatments or when my barrier feels fragile. Paired with the Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream, it creates an incredibly effective repair system that leaves my skin calm, comfortable, and visibly healthier.

This quite literally saved my skin and a few hundred dollars at a dermatologist. I unfortunately used a toner all over my face that I had not patched, tested and broke out with contact dermatitis on my face and neck. Having reactive skin, everything that was recommended to put on such as, calming, barrier creams, mild cleansers, barrier, protectant ointment, etc., absolutely made my skin sting and react worse. Something I learned was that when you have a reactive skin type, anything that traps he makes it worse. I went two full days with nothing on my face, not being able to do anything except splash water. So I went and asked my trusted friend ChatGPT…. This was one of the products that was recommended. It was recommended because it wasn’t humectant heavy. Wouldn’t sit on top of my skin barrier and trap heat, and didn’t contain anything irritating but would help help. Build my barrier back up while also calming down the dermatitis….. well as somebody who dislikes, serums and humectant heavy products like most serums are, I could’ve poured this whole bottle on my entire face. It was so soothing, silky, like nothing I had felt before, did not feel sticky, tacky or anything of that nature. It glided across my entire face and neck where the dermatitis was, and sunk right into my skin within a few minutes. My face instantly felt calm and unbothered. Aside from washing my face with simply water, for 40s I only applied this morning and night and everything disappeared. I wish they would make a lightweight version moisturizer of this same product that doesn’t trap heat, because this product is absolutely a 10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10.

I love this product but the tubing of it is not manageable. The dropper pulled apart from the lid. My partner is in engineering and construction and said to never buy a product from the company again due to the packaging. It was halfway full when the dropper broke which led to air getting into the container and it not being fully concealed again. I wish the packaging would be better for the long term

I use the cicablast cream at night and just started to use this serum during the day. It is hydrating and soothing to my skin. Friendly under makeup and no need for extra hydration.

It’s a little sticky which I hope is just because it hasn’t soaked in it. Excited to see the results

This is by far the best barrier repair serum Iv ever used . Iv used many serums and nothing compares to this . Immediately it soothes and restores my skin . It does not sting and it calms my skin and soothes redness . Perfect serum for sensitive skin

I've used the product for a long time, the product in the new packaging is NOT the same. It has a much stronger scent, it is sticky and it causes my rosacea to flair.

As another user said, defective bottle / packaging - cap does not fully screw shut and thus spills everywhere if you bring it when traveling. This is the second bottle I've bought that this has happened with

It really does make a huge difference after one use. Helped my PD and rosacea OVERNIGHT. I am using this with the sinsiru watery sulfur serum, peach slices azelaic acid, and topical ivermectin (lice treatment).

The serum itself is fine, after a week of use I haven’t seen a noticeable difference but it does feel and smell nice. My issue is with the bottle. The dropper top will not stay closed. Even after tightening multiple times it has unwound itself and caused leaking and product loss. I’m a flight attendant and I bought this specifically to use when I’m on trips and now I’ve lost so much product and can’t even bring it with me to work unless I want to lose more. Really disappointed especially for the price.
