Q: Can glass rock be used instead of lava rock?

  • A: You can use fire glass in place of the lava rock if you choose. Real Flame does sell Reflective Fire Glass filler in 20 lb. bags, and this unit in particular we recommend roughly 50 lbs. of reflective fire glass to adequately fill. Sincerely, Real Flame Customer Service - NC

Id give this a negative 5 stars if possible.

The edges are "crumbling" as two other customers mentioned in their reviews on your site. Although, this is on our roof in WA, it's always covered when not in use and freezing temperature are rare for us in this area. We had another home with a similar pit from another manufacturer, and after 5 years, never had this sort of issue. Sorry we did not purchase that brand a second time. The manufacturer does not stand behind their product. Dont recommend.

Do not purchase

Purchased with high expectations and met with utter disappointment. Do not buy as it disintegrates after a year of use and following all maintenance requirements and resurfacing twice. Worst purchase ever

Crumbling to Pieces

For such an expensive and "premium" fire pit, I would have expected better long term durability. The surface of the fire pit is crumbling to pieces. I've kept the pit covered when not in use and followed the care instructions in the manual, but I'm still seeing extensive damage.
