Q: How long is Flaxseed meal good after the best used by date (1-9-2018)
A:Â Try storing it in the freezer if you want a longer life!
submitted byPOlson - 5 years agoA:Â At room temperature, whole flaxseed can last for six months past the written expiration date on the package, while ground flaxseed only has a shelf life of about a week past the written expiration date. ... Flaxseed contains delicate omega-3 fatty acids that can go rancid rapidly. If you are trying to obtain the benefits of flaxseed, I recommend just purchasing a new batch for the best potency.

Q: Does this have to be stored in the refrigerator? Is refrigerating for longevity or quality? If it is consumed within 3 to 4 weeks, would the quality be less if not refrigerated?
A:Â It is highly recommended to purchase ground flaxseeds that are in a vacuum-sealed package or have been refrigerated since once flaxseeds are ground, they are much more prone to oxidation and spoilage.
