Q: Why does Bobbie have soy in it? It can negatively impact boys estrogen levels

submitted by MalloryH - 2 years ago
  • A: It is not a soy-based formula in terms of the protein source but contains soy lecithin, which is an emulsifier found in many foods

submitted byLM - 2 years ago
  • A: it no longer contains soy, they updated their formula and now is exactly like European formula. we love it and the new update did not cause my baby any issues.

submitted byPatty - 2 years ago
  • A: This is one of my ONLY issues with Bobbie. The soy needs to go. Otherwise, we love it!

submitted byMegan Post - 2 years ago
  • A: You said that EU formulas often use palm oil but Aptamil and Kendamil which are both in Target are from Europe don't have palm oil or soy.

submitted byMalloryH - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Mallory! Soy oil is a source of fatty acids essential in infant nutrition. Unlike EU formulas, which often use palm oil, Bobbie includes organic soybean oil. Deciding between palm oil and soybean oil was tough, but we ultimately chose soybean oil as a more sustainable alternative to palm oil. Palm oil has also been linked to some digestive issues. Our USDA organic non-hydrogenated soybean oil is non-GMO and not grown with pesticides. Bobbie does not contain soy protein.

Q: How long is 1 can usually good for before expiring?

submitted by CW - 1 year ago

submitted byBG - 1 year ago

Q: Is there supposed to be a scoop in every can of formula? I just bought this for the first time to try it and mine didn't come with a scoop, I dumped it out twice into a bowl to try to find it.

submitted by Madison - 2 years ago
  • A: yes a scoop comes in evey can. It is usually way down in the middle. Never had a can that didn't come with one.

submitted byKarenA - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Madison! Every can should contain a fresh scoop, which should be used when preparing Bobbie. A gram scale can be used to accurately measure a scoop. However, in a pinch, one scoop is roughly equivalent to 1.5 level tablespoons. We've shared this with our quality team—can you send us an email at hello@hibobbie.com so we can learn more?

Not Comparable to Kendamil

Megan - 6 days ago, Verified purchaser
We switched to this formula during the shortage of Kendamil hoping it wouldn’t cause any issues. The consistency is so thick and it foams really easily, so my baby had a hard time drinking. He seemed to not mind the taste, but I noticed he was having really terrible tummy issues after about a day on Bobbie. They immediately stopped when we were able to find Kendamil again. Really sad that we need to get formula from the UK in order to have quality ingredients and that the US made (Bobbie) is full of junk despite claiming to be organic. And way too expensive for the amount you get.

Sarah C - 15 days ago, Verified purchaser
So tricky to rate this formula. Not unlike many of you I'm sure - I was SOL with Kendamil suddenly off the shelves (don't even get me started) so I needed a quick alternative. This and another brand came up a lot in my search. Like a total rookie, I didn't look at the size of the cans so I thought this was a great and cheaper option, but the cans are painfully small, making it far from a truly affordable option. We're on around four 6 oz. bottles a day and it goes quick already, making it also feel like I have to make sure I have quite a few stashed just in case. I figured I might have to try the formula anyway so we just went with it - if I coukd go back, I would. So far, my baby has done okay with it - but makes her poops and farts smell just atrocious (lol). Generally, I think her little tummy has done well with it though which is definitely a plus. It also seems to mix pretty well without getting foamy either, occasionally a little clumpy if you don't shake well enough or if your water is colder. Back to packaging: my husband and I have both been cut by these darn tiny cans! My husband while he was opening one, so I thought maybe user error (Dads amiright) but then I got a cut just from a random sharp piece of metal on the edge of the can while scooping formula out. Seems pretty lame to really complain about since the formula itself seems to work okay for us, but with the size of the can being what it is AND it's become a weird hazard I didn't know I'd face, I can't really give a glowing review. I'd go with an alternative before trying this one, especially if your baby doesn't have a sensitive/picky tummy. Beware the tiny, expensive formula can.

Unfortunately due to Kendamil formula being out of stock we had no choice but to try this organic brand. Not sure even if organic why contains canola oil or sunflower oil!? First off the milk has a fish smell to it. I can't imagine how bad it must taste for my baby. His poop has a rancid smell of fish as well. Not to mention he has yet to burp on this formula. He crust eat more often and has been more gassy. I'm only using temporarily but I would not recommend!

My picky formula baby who only takes kendamil formula, took to this formula without any fuss. We had to switch from kendamil to this one due to shortage. I love how I dont have to worry to much about the ingredients and gave no tummy issues to my little one.I do wish this came in a bigger volume we go through this can in four days, only downside for me.

Worst can design ever. You have to fish the scooper out of the can and then it just sits in the formula container. Extremely small for how much it cost. It's half the size as other organic brands and costs about the same. I won't be purchasing this product ever again.

It’s okay. I had to change to Bobbie since Kendamil is out of stock everywhere. My only complaint is that is extremely foamy and one can only lasted like 2 days but my baby liked it so that’s what matters and his poops don’t smell too bad anymore so that’s a plus!
1 reply from Bobbie team - 18 days ago
Hi Angelica! Thanks for trying Bobbie. We're glad your baby liked it! While it can be annoying, foam in formula is normal, especially with milk, whey, or soy. It can vary between batches due to natural protein differences. To reduce foam, try letting the bottle rest for 5 minutes after mixing, then give it a gentle swirl before feeding your baby. Bottle nipples are also designed to break up air bubbles as they pass through. Hope this helps!

It got that funky smell. My son didn’t like it at first because of the taste but since he was very hungry, he didn’t have a choice. Only used it once and not again…if I have a choice. I am not sure if I’ll recommend this to anyone, I didn’t see any difference how my son reacted to it. Very easy to prepare and less foamy. Affordable too
1 reply from Bobbie team - 18 days ago
Hi annevc. Thanks for giving us a try! Keep in mind that it can take babies 5-7 days to adjust to a new formula. The oils, nutrients and vitamins, and DHA/ARA all contribute to Bobbie’s scent. Infant formulas containing DHA/ARA are sometimes described as having a “fishy” smell, and there may be some variation from one can to another. Don’t worry—this variation is completely normal and safe, so you can continue to feed with confidence.

2024Momm - 27 days ago, Verified purchaser
Due to the Kendamil being out of stock, we decided to try Bobbie out. After fully transitioning my baby to Bobbie, we noticed several changes in her behavior and body. She was super fussy, seemed to be in discomfort and had bad gas and diarrhea. She wasn’t able to sleep through the night as she normally did and she ended up getting a terrible diaper rash. The formula itself smells very off putting, like spoiled milk and metal. Her poop smelled rancid and her breath smelled terrible. I’m glad it works for some babies but was a definite no no for mine. We ended up going with the Enfamil Neuropro and all side effects from the Bobbie formula have subsided.

it goes without saying this is very expensive formula. we switched to this temporarily due to the Kendamil shortage and my son began having redness/blotches around his eyes, mouth and cheeks about 4 days into using. this is the only thing I can think of that would have caused it. we figured this was the best option for the time being but we will have to try something else until Kendamil is restocked.

I stopped exclusively breastfeeding around 7 months and switched to Bobbie. First mixed half BM/half Bobbie and no issues! After that my baby has taken to Bobbie very well. As a FTM, I was stressed about finding a clean formula that wasn’t condensed with heavy metals and I’m so glad I did. My baby loves it and I trust he’s getting the best nutrition possible. Thank you Bobbie!

I’m beyond disappointed with Bobbie formula. After trusting this brand for my baby’s nutrition, I feel completely let down. The company pulled their product from the market for three months, citing manufacturing changes. While I understand the need for quality control, what followed was nothing short of a nightmare. When they finally reintroduced the formula, I was shocked to discover that they had changed the ingredients without any significant notice to consumers. There was little to no information shared about what had actually changed. As a parent, this lack of transparency is unacceptable. After the agonizing three-month wait, I eagerly tried the new formula with my baby, only to be met with utter disappointment. My child refused to drink it—apparently, the taste is different and much less palatable. Even more concerning, the formula didn’t agree with her stomach, leading to several days of discomfort and upset. I had placed my trust in Bobbie, believing that they valued family and the well-being of our children over profit. Unfortunately, it seems that they are just like any other company, putting profit margins ahead of transparency and customer trust. I regret ever switching to this formula and would not recommend it to any other parents. Save yourself the stress and find a brand that actually cares about what they’re putting into their product—and into your child’s body.

Hi KK. We traded emails with you about these concerns and believed we had made this right for you. We’ll send you another email, we would still love to connect with you again to listen and learn from your experience. There has been no change to the Bobbie recipe on shelf at Target. Stores nationwide will continue to offer 14.1 oz cans of Bobbie Organic Routine Formula made with our low erucic acid rapeseed (canola) oil-based recipe. We’ve thoughtfully sourced each of our ingredients and when we made some updates to the recipe we sell on our website earlier this year, we communicated those changes to customers who buy from us directly. As a team of parents feeding our own babies with Bobbie, we want you to feel super confident in the product you are feeding your little one. We hope you’ve found a formula that works for you and your baby and we wish you all the best on your feeding journey!
