Good but not perfect.
Overall, very good. The tamping system is great. There are a couple of issues, though. The hidden tool compartment behind the drip tray is a great idea. Unfortunately it's useless because it fills up with water. I never let the drip tray fill to overflowing so I suspect the tool compartment gets splashes from the steam wand. As per the instruction manual, I let the steam wand run into the tray before inserting it into the milk. This can take up to 20 seconds before the wand stops spurting and spluttering and delivers consistent steam. You have to do this before steaming every jug, not just the first. The other issue is that I've given up pouring 2 cups of espresso at once. The amount poured into each cup is inconsistent. Quite often (but not always) the cup on the left gets a lot of coffee and the one on the right doesn't get enough. Previous machines I've used on the same bench haven't suffered from this problem. So now I always grind and pour one cup at a time, even though it takes a little longer. In the end, however, the machine makes good coffee.

Inconsistent production
Very disappointed in machine when it comes to final product. One day works great, then we follow same routine next day and terrible. Not consistent water flow each day through the grinded beans. Would be cheaper to go to local coffee shop and pay then what we are spending on good beans.

Great machine
Really love this machine. The new auto leveling feature helps you do it right. I was guilty of always overfilling our old Barista and I think it was hard on it. Makes a great cup of espresso.

Self-Tamp makes it dreamy.

It’s amazing
I got my machine a month ago and it’s everything and more. The only thing that was tough was figuring out the correct bean grind to effect the right pressure. With that said there is a bunch of videos out there. Just had to work with it a bit. Love this machine, now I’m a pro.

Grinder and brewing failed in under a year
I purchased the Barista Express less than a year ago and the grinder stopped working in the middle of grinding beans. Despite thorough cleaning, the grinder is jammed and all lights flash, making the machine completely unusable — it won’t even brew without the grinder functioning. For the price point of this machine, I expected better durability and reliability. Very disappointed that such an expensive investment failed so quickly.

Wrong Item Received and Target won't provide support
Can’t give a review on the actual item as Target shipped me a TABLE BASE instead of an espresso machine! Filed a report with Target that the wrong item was received. They gave me a shipping label to send back the table base and then DENIED my return. They refuse to reverse the denial and issue a refund. I’ve reached out to Target numerous times and they have been no help. Would love to be able to review this item in the future if Target will ever refund me for their error. OKAY BUT ENDED UP RETURNING
good looking, high quality feel, the coffee just couldn't come out right in taste for me, lots of effort required, and still never could get there. bland taste. Wish I knew: Any larger than normal coffee mug won't fit under, annoying to use 2 glasses. Hot water dispenser splashes everywhere if used right after the steam wand. Decent, but not worth the effort.
