It’s like magic! Or nearly.
This replaced a Dual Boiler that gave up the ghost after more than a dozen years of service. I decided an update was warranted and wanted something more automatic and the Impress lives up to that goal, and I particularly enjoy the automatic milk frothing and push button ease. If I have caveats it’s that the water tank is small and awkward to fill (compared to the top-pouring convenience and ample tank of the Dual Boiler) and the draining reservoir fills up fast when using the self-cleaning frother.

We are not impressed…
We purchased the Barista Touch Impress just over two years ago and have used it daily. Worked great for most of the time, but there were a couple of frustrating aspects. First, the owners manual tells us not to put the tray components in the dishwasher. However, the components have too many nooks and crannies to clean otherwise, so a dishwasher safe tray should be a must. Strike one. The system allows users to set up a custom brew, name it, and save it. Great idea! Except the system will not save whether you are using the small or large filter. This selection is simply the press of an icon on the screen, so I don’t know why this cannot be saved. Strike two. Just before we hit the two year mark the milk frother stopped working. Support walk us through certain steps a couple of times, but that did not solve the problem. Breville quickly mailed a box to send in the unit for repair, which was accomplished quickly (and appreciated). Upon receipt of the repaired unit, the milk frother once again worked. However, in the repair process the grinder stopped registering whether it had ground enough coffee beans and would constantly overfill or keep telling us more was needed even though the filter was full. Support again tried to walk us through a fix, but to no avail. Strike three. This week, when the screen told us to clean the milk frother tip we found the repair group had screwed the head in so tight that it could not be removed. Strike four. This could be a great machine (coffee tastes great), but too many strikes to recommend.

Not sure
The jury is still out. I feel as though the machine has some slaws. The self tamper doesn’t always tamp as needed. The espresso-shot flow is not always consistent. Need more than 30 days to decide if it’s a good fit which is all they allow especially at this price. Don’t get me wrong it is a nice machine, but is it worth the money.

Great machine with 1 major (for some) limitation
Got this about a week ago. The shots are great, all reviews were spot in. Help you dial in. And pulls great shots. However, if you like your latte /cappuccino/flatwhite a little hotter than 75C ( 170 F) yiu are out of luck. 75C milk becomes luke warm real fast so, if you wait more than a couple minutes your coffee is not going to be hot. Its a dumb software limit since the machine can definitely do it in manual mode. Just need to allow the automatic to go above 75C (even 5C) will.do it! Frustrating.

Revamped quality espresso
It's just my first couple of days with the new Breville machine, so far I love it compared with the simpler model. Internally, everything has been revampled compared with the older/simpler models. The impress tamping system is quite accurate and does not make a mess when compared with the manual tamping on the simpler model. This model has a better boiler, which seems more efficient, allowing for faster operation time. It also seems to have a microcontroler inside which allows for the machine to sense/control the brewing process better. The Display/UI is very responsive, and the software is easy to setup and use. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Faulty
I have been very upset . Within 2 days of purchase and openning the machine the tamping lever malfunctioned . It doesnt serve single cup expresso if the same quality. Machine automatically restarts and reboots. Temperature of the liquid is not appropriate and is cold. Very hesitant to exchane or order a new one

Just OK.
The Breville Touch Impress promises much and delivers on some of it's promises. The intelligent dosing feature is often misleading. Despite producing very drinkable coffee, it constantly suggests changes to the grind size etc and this can be very confusing. I prepare a drink for my wife and the machine suggests a change to the grind size. Then I make the same drink for myself (without making any changes) and it says all is fine. Both drinks were acceptable. It makes me wonder why I paid for the intelligent dosing feature when it is so inconsistent. Another annoying feature is the way in which the puck sticks to the screen and fails to come away when I remove the basket after brewing. At that point, it suggests that the grind may be too fine despite earlier advising me to make it finer because the brewing was too fast. Go figure!! On the positive side, we have enjoyed some good Americanos and Cappuccinos but the water for the Americano takes a long time to produce.

Item doesn’t stop producing water even though it has a preset water amount set. (3oz./5oz./7oz. Etc) Only owned for 1 month and target is not allowing me to return defective item. Highly disappointed!!

Touch Impress Is A Mess
I bought the Barista Touch Impress and am frustrated that I cannot find a dosing funnel that can be used attached to the portafilter to grind and keep coffee from overflowing the portafilter. The machine will ask for more grounds but it spills out to the spill tray. This happens all of the time forcing me to clean up and waste more coffee beans. I purchased the Breville branded 54mm dosing funnel and it does not activate the grinder, so it is useless for what I wanted. Can anyone recommend a dosing cup that will work with the grinder?

The perfect espresso machine
A month ago, right before Christmas, I decided to take the plunge into an espresso machine. The Barista Touch Impress has exceeded my expectations. I was looking for better coffee - it delivers. I was wanting to be able to control my brew and it delivers with ease. It allows me to dial in my coffee grind quickly without waste and the workflow is very intuitive. I even had to bring it with me on my latest RV trip.

Great Idea
After viewing a few YouTube reviews, I was excited to purchase the Touch Impress. I moved up from a super automatic and found this machine easy to use. What I hav found that it is hard to produce a really good espresso shot by itself. I use fresh beans and tried the intelligent brewing system, but whenit says that should be a cafe quality shot usually isn’t. I usually make milk based drinks, so it doesn’t matter as much, but disappointed that I can’t get a great espresso shot.

Allows the drink customization I want
Bought 2 months ago and love coffee from internal grinder, lever tamping, one-touch puck draw and customizable milk steaming or manual steaming. I want my coffee to be a smidge stronger than is drawn. So, I run draw for 10 seconds more through same puck and then manually steam milk to make super fluffy foam using whole milk. And the convenience of adjustability in the ability to do that is exactly why I bought this unit. To me, the foam makes or breaks the cup of coffee.

What a good decision
I compared many brands and technologies of coffee machines and I really came up with the best conclusion, beyond the cost benefit, that to tell the truth, it is worth paying to enjoy an extraordinary coffee. Every day is worth it because the day begins and ends with an exquisite coffee.
