Got this for my husband since I’ve been looking to minimize toxins in our personal care products. I love that it’s clay based, it smells very natural and not too strong, and holds hair great while being matte and not feeling like a chip. My husband has thick straight hair for reference. Can is really pretty too, only thing is it’s pretty expensive compared to the other options that are also more available.

I wasn’t a fan of this product. It got rave reviews in GQ and I used to use the other kind of pomade by BYRD. While I didn’t love the other product either I prefer it over this one. This stuff was hard to scoop out and work into my hair. I love a good matte clay but this was not it for me.

If anyone has tried the Baxter Of California Clay Pomade, this is pretty much the same thing at a better price. It does what it advertises- strong hold, matte finish. Super simple and pretty easy to use, works well in damp hair and dry hair and is easy to fix throughout the day if anything gets messed up. It's a bit sticky but that should be expected for a product like this. The biggest difference between the Byrd Clay and the Baxter Clay is that the Byrd Clay feels SLIGHTLY stickier in the hair, but for me they perform the same.
I have thick, wavy hair, for reference. But I could definitely see this working for people with fine hair as well.

Great pomade, and I have tried many. I have thin hair that likes to stick up ( thank you 4 cowlicks) this does a good job of making me look presentable instead of just rollingout of bed or standing in a wind tunnel
