    Charmin Ultra Strong Mega Rolls I Do Not Recommend

    My husband and I are very disappointed in this toilet paper. It used to be softer and gentler. Now it's rough and tough. We're not comfortable using it. It is rough on our bottom. Now it really is toilet PAPER! We're afraid the toilet will be clogged because it seems to resist breaking down. I wish I could return it for a refund.

    Still decent

    Did the product specs change? It seems stiffer and rougher than it used to be. My wife now occasionally gets a rash.

    We're sorry to hear you and your wife have had this experience with our Charmin Ultra Strong. We want you to know our products are thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed, so this is not something we'd expect to see. If she hasn't already, we'd recommend she discontinue use of this product, and that you hold onto it in case we need to retrieve it for evaluation. While we did change the texture pattern of our Ultra Strong in 2022, we would expect it to still function the same as before.     Soft yet strong!

    The thickness and texture of this toilet paper is nice. It's soft yet strong. What I don't like about it is that this toilet paper gets used up too quickly.

    Paying the same, getting less!

    Bought new the new Smooth Tear Ultra Soft Charmin, and was disappointed to see that I was getting less for my money. Each of the new "improved" rolls have 224 sheets. The old, non-wavy tear versions had 244 sheets per roll. When you buy a 30-pack of toilet paper, and add up the difference of 20 sheets per roll, that's almost 2 1/2 fewer rolls of tp per package! Not worth it for the "improvement" which I didn't need in the first place. Lower the price, add more rolls to the pack, or give me the option to choose wavy tear with fewer rolls or non wavy tear with more rolls please!

    Mega is a money grab. I am sure ultra mega is too.

    I agree with another customer about the sizing. There is no way the mega roll is as many as 4 regular rolls. That would mean that your regular roll would only last two poos and a few pees before it was out. Downsizing is being nice, it's a rip off for the amount of money people spend on this toilet paper. I've loved Charmin but come on. It feels like Charmin just added the word mega to make more money with way less product. DISAPPOINTED. Will no longer be buying Charmin.

In the meantime, we made a modification resulting in a slight decrease in the number of sheets on each roll and reducing the width of some rolls to make them standard for all our roll sizes. It's a tough decision any time we make a change that may impact our consumers, but we are constantly looking at our products and cost of materials needed to make them so we can keep providing you the product you love at a great value. Our Charmin is 2X more absorbent than the leading bargain brand, so you can use less. In fact, our entire family of products is designed to be a great long-lasting choice, so you enjoy more "gos" per roll and change the roll even less often!

    May clog toilet

    I like Charmin but the ultra strong becomes rough. I threw only 3 small squares of bath tissue and they clogged my toilet. It's been 2 weeks and I have been using another bathroom. I flush that toilet everyday to see if it will be fixed by itself. I want to know if the bath tissue will dissolve in water or not? It is a nightmare. Now I am afraid of throwing Charmin into the toilet.

It may be helpful to know that the most common cause of pipe and sewer clogs is something in a drainpipe or sewer pipe that doesn't belong, such as tree roots, grease, food scraps, and cotton swabs.     What happened to Ultra Strong

    I have been using Ultra Strong for years. What happened? I have noticed I have to use more squares and it is thinner too. I decided to find out if anything had changed and sure enough it wasn't my imagination. Guess it is time to find another brand who cares about their product. I was always willing to pay more because Charmin used to be a class above the rest!

    Not Ultra Strong

    Extremely disappointed in the current quality and size of the Mega Ultra Strong. You need to remove the Ultra Strong from your packaging and advertising as it is now false. The tissue just deteriorates and falls apart. Even removing rolls from the packaging I find little scraps of tissues on the floor. As a person who suffers from interstitial cystitis I consider myself a expert on paper quality and value and Charmin is no longer the leader. Please return to the previous quality.

    Changed over pandemic!

    I’m so so sad. I have bad reactions to TP and charmin Ultra strong was my only option. They changed it over the pandemic and now it’s scratchy and burns my skin just like all the cheap stuff. Charmin, if you’re listening, please please bring back the old stuff! I would pay for the price increase to maintain quality! I don’t even mind the smaller roll!

    “New and improved” more like “New and cheap”

    I just bought a new package of Ultra Strong and it is absolutely awful! Whatever what done to it , it is now rough and is making me bleed. It didn’t do that until you made changes to it recently. Now I am gonna have to find a new brand that isn’t like sandpaper, yet doesn’t shred.

    Something’s changed and it sucks

    I’ve been buying this TP since I graduated and moved out on my own. It’s always been my fav cuz it lasts forever and is super durable. Lately I’ve been noticing that I’m going through rolls so fast! So I thought okay lemme do the 3 square thing cuz I loved that I really only need 3 squares. Well not anymore, if I use 3 they’ll rip apart so easily and I don’t understand why it’s so thin/flimsy now. Sucks cuz now I’ll have to find a new go to roll since this one functions like a basic roll. It even feels super thin like a step up from a dollar store roll.

    What happened?

    I have always bought charmin strong for as long as I can remember being able to but this last package I bought was the first time I was disappointed in the quality of the product. The rolls are tighter and more firm with almost no give or softness much like the cheap one ply you use in a gas station bathroom. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to be wiping like normal and the toilet paper fails and before you know it you’re a knuckle deep. Sincerely change it back so I can wipe without fear again. Thank you.

    What Happened?!?!

    This was always the ONLY toilet paper I’d ever purchased. It literally was the perfect mix of soft and durable. Due to the pandemic, I was unable to find it anywhere for nearly a year, then had to purchase Charmin Soft (which is horrible and dusty). Finally got my hands on a newly sized and priced pack of Charmin Ultra Strong and I am dismayed and disappointed to find it is completely different. The squares are smaller and the paper is thin, rough, and scratchy. It’s hardly different than awful store brand paper. Why did Charmin ruin a good thing? I guess this is my sign from the universe to quit mainstream brands and shop for something more eco friendly. I just can’t believe how bad it is and how fast it will run out because you have to use twice as much as you used to.

    So Disappointing the Ultra Strong product had changed

    Charmin Ultra Strong has been my go to for a few years. I admit I am quite particular about having soft toilet paper, but also wants it too hold up for the job intended. This used to be the perfect product. The last two packages I have purchased, I honestly thought there had been some mistake. The toilet paper is rough and scratchy, more the texture of off brand paper towels. It's honestly uncomfortable to use at this point. What happened Charmin? The product isn't cheaper, so why has it gone from the previously luxurious feel to something that reminds me of the gas station bathroom? After several years as a loyal customer I won't be buying this again, or any other Charmin product. If they downgraded this one so drastically I can't imagine how disappointing their other product changes will become.
