Great Features - typical Cuisinart quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to purchase a Cuisinart Custom Classic Toaster Oven because of its compact size, easy to read and adjust function, temperature and toasting shade dials. The feature that sealed the deal was the cooking grill that automatically comes out as you open the door that makes it easy to place food items on it vs. reaching inside the oven like other brands.

Excellent but...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent unit. It functions as expected. I like how the floor is removable for cleaning. It replaces a previous toaster-oven that was a little more compact. My only regret is that it doesn't include a timer function.

Giving my oven and my electricity bill a break
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my toaster oven. It is big enough to hold an 8x8 casserole dish which is what I usually use. The only drawback is that it is hard to read the indicator buttons which are all black with a small edge.

I have had 2 Toaster Ovens over the past 18 years and was extremely satisfied with quality of product & design, simplicity in controls and performance. But this model fails in all categories. I do regret my purchase.

As good or better than previous Cuisinart
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our experience with a previous Cuisinart toaster/oven was excellent. After years, replacing it with another Cuisinart was the obvious choice, with price as an important consideration. The difference with the new one is that it has a less solid, lighter feel than the previous one. However, that is the only downside. The new one heats more quickly, and has the added convenience of a hook on the door that partially pulls out the grill when the door is opened. The bottom crumb tray is far more convenient, retractable as a drawer on the outside, instead of needing to reach into the heating chamber to extract it. The ticking, analog timer is gone. Instead of turning the toast shade/timer to start heating, it requires only pressing a button. Like the old one, a red light illuminates to tell you that it's working. No ticking, no friendly bell when toasting is completed. A quick, quiet electronic signal tells you when it's done. Toasting is very fast. We find that the "shade" knob needs only to be set less than halfway between "light" and "medium" to get fully toasted bread. The heating elements of this new one are enclosed in ventilated tubes, rather than uncovered. If this unit lasts as long as the previous one, it is a bargain.

Flashing Red Light/Smoke
I bought this toaster oven in September 2025. It was very good until recently. Less than a year later the red “on”light starts to flash at times and smoke comes out of the toaster oven.

So far not good, but will give it a little longer
Recently purchased the TOB-40N Toaster Oven. The first time I made toast, the rack was in the correct position, the bread was centered, set on toast, medium darkness. When the bell rang it was burnt on both sides. Tried again, this time on light, bell went off and it wasn't toasted at all. Restarted with the dial between light and medium, with 20 seconds I had to stop it to keep it from burning. Will continue to try and see if it improves.

I'm looking for something BETTER
Almost impossible to read the dials without bending over. Also knob markings are hard to discern. The operation of this using is markedly different than others I have owned. Your really need to read and understand the operations prior to using.

Too bad it's discontinued
I've been using my Custom Classic Toaster Oven for about three weeks. I like it very much. It's well built, performs well, is easy to use and at 1800 watts is more powerful than my microwave oven. I like the simple analog control knobs. Not that I'm tech averse but I find them easier to use than a single multifunction touch screen. I've toasted breads and bagels, baked (roasted) meats and veggies and broiled meats. What I like most is not having to use my full size oven to roast or broil a single portion of some food item. Some reviews that I read before my purchase complained about the raised pointer rib on the knobs being hard to see. I solved that with a paint marker from an art supply shop. Other reviews pointed out the lack of a timer. But with timer functions on my watch, phone, microwave oven and full size range I'm not lacking for timing devices. One issue I didn't find in other reviews was the instruction booklet entry for toasting bagels. It's the same as the entry for toasting bread. From what I've read online the correct procedure is to toast bagels cut side up because the upper heating elements get hotter or run longer than the lower elements in the Bagel cycle. All told I'm more than satisfied with my Custom Classic Toaster Oven.

Somewhat Disappointed
We've had this toaster oven for 10 weeks. Baking and broiling functions are fine; it heats up quite quickly. However, toasting is a challenge. The level of toastiness is inconsistent, regardless of how where we have the indicator. Also, just this week we noticed that the finish is starting to chip off the baking/broiling tray. This appliance does not meet the standards to which I've become accustomed from Cuisinart.

Custom Classic Toaster Oven Broiler
It certainly is a pleasure to use the Cuisinart Toaster Oven Broiler. This is an upgrade from the one I replaced including the 1800 watt, which I didn't have before. So far, all the food I've cooked in this oven was perfect. All of the features have easy to use dials, it quickly preheats, comes with broiler pan and rack, has a brushed stainless steel finish, a non-stick interior, and an easy clean crumb tray. I really like the "Even Shade Control" which monitors the toasting temperature. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Best toaster oven
This toaster oven is far superior to others we have owned. We had this one for years before it gave out. We purchased a cheaper one that looked good. Bad mistake, the toast was uneven and took multiple passes to get finished. We bought another of these and are very pleased with its performance.

Great toaster oven! It looks beautiful on my kitchen counter and works perfectly. I’ve used it for toasting bread, but will find many other uses for it.
