  • A: No to traditional breads, but popovers, cookies, and sweet breads come out great baked in my toaster-oven size CasaWare, Pyrex, and LeCreuset pans. For recipes just research "small batch."

    Door spring broke after a year and a half

    The toaster oven functions reasonable well. It has a lot of settings and is reasonably flexible. Toasting bread usually takes a few times through with a flip in the middle. On mine, the return spring on the door broke which resulted in the door dropping open too quickly instead of easing down. The spring breaking is apparently a common problem (based on the number of youtube fixit videos). Getting a replacement spring is easy enough from a local big box store (Hillman Model #543183 -- two in a pack) but getting into the toaster to replace it is way too difficult for a part that is subject to breaking. I ended up bending the side with the spring out to get to the spring. Official instructions for getting into the device would be helpful. Once in the spring is easy to replace.

    Love it! But...

    I love many things about this toaster oven: It's size, its easy to understand user buttons, dials and screen, the three position adjustable rack and the easy to clean crumb tray to name a few. Minor annoyance that, unlike other toaster ovens I have had, there isn't a mechanism on the door that pulls the rack out when you open the door so you have to reach into the hot oven to pull the tray out. Very inconvenient. Also, and this is the same with all toaster ovens, the toast on top the rach is perfect but with the heating element below the rack you can't get the bottom part of the toast fully toasted without rack marks.

    Breville Mini Smart but also Mighty!

    We had the larger breville for what I swear was a decade. It worked so well we just couldn’t part with it. Then moved to smaller home with smaller kitchen. The new mini is a great addition. Love the ease of use and low profile. The extras round pan and broiler will make it even more useful and versatile. Great mini oven! “A bit more?” Genius!

    Lasted a while

    I have had this toaster oven for at least 8+ years. The buttons started having issues about 3 years ago, i would press up and it would go down and the start button should require multiple attempts to start. Only recently I started seeing sparks when then oven is on so I figured it's time for a new one. Overall, it lasted a while.

    Breville Mini Toaster Oven

    Breville is a good brand. This toaster oven is fairly basic but good for toasting and reheating and "baking" things like french fries. I was a little disappointed by how lightweight the toaster oven is. So far I have had good results.

    So happy with my Mini Smart Oven

    I upgraded to Breville from an older, other model brand mini oven. I love how I don't have to watch over my bagel or toast thanks to the digital timer function. Looks great on my counter as well.

    Terrible Toast

    I have had this thing for years, and am not sure why it has taken me this long to review and replace (just ordered a new toaster, phew). It starts to toast by turning on both elements, top and bottom, as you would expect. Then they turn off, and remain off for up to a full minute, during which time, the toast is not browning, but the insides are losing all semblance of being bread. Then they cycle on and off. I like a deeply browned piece of toast. By the time the bread is toasted brown it has been sitting inside a hot oven with no toasting, ie, when the elements cycle off, for so long that the inside is now as hard as a rock, dried to the consistency of a baseball bat. Be careful of your teeth! I am generally a fan of many Breville products, but not this one! (Their espresso machines, for instance, are fabulous.)

    Not worth it

    This is a sad mockery of the older/larger models. It works but it’s just not nice… and it doesn’t pull the grate out so you can get your toast without burning yourself!! Madness. Returning

    Gets way too hot!

    I go this on sale and have had this brand in the past. This little toaster o en is the perfect size for my kitchen, but it gets too hot just making toast. I don’t trust that it isn’t a fire hazard and will be returning.
