Q: Safe for eczema prone skin?

submitted by Katie - 4 months ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Bronner's! While we do not make any products specifically for sensitive skin, many of our soaps work very well for those with skin sensitivities, with our Organic Sugar Soap being the most moisturizing. We have received very positive comments regarding our Baby Unscented and Tea Tree soaps from our customers with skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, oily skin, or general skin sensitivities. However, we all have different skin, so we would advise first trying our product on a small area of your skin to be sure that it will work for you. For our customers with many sensitivities who are unable to use our scented varieties, we recommend trying our unscented soaps. Additionally, our Organic Sugar Soap offers a more moisturizing experience. The first ingredient in our Sugar Soap is organic sucrose, which is a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin and hair. As a result, these soaps tend to be a bit more hydrating than our classic Pure-Castile Soaps. These soaps also contain shikakai powder, used in India for centuries as a gentle conditioner for skin and hair, making them ideal for washing hair (remember to use an acidic conditioning rinse). As mentioned above, we do not make soaps specific to certain skin conditions, although they may help in some cases. We would still recommend that you first consult these products with your dermatologist to see which products they may recommend that are more suitable for your skin. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

Q: Is there enough tea tree oil, or is it strong enough, to help treat demodex mites?

submitted by Katie On OBX - 5 months ago
  • A: Thank you for contacting us at Dr. Bronner's! While we do not make any products specifically for treating demodex mites or other skin conditions, many of our soaps work very well for those with skin sensitivities. While we do not disclose the exact percentages of the ingredients in our products, the concentration of essential oils used in our products is less than 3%, with our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap containing the highest amount. These products have no essential oils and our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap contains almost double the amount of olive oil, making them milder than the rest. As mentioned above, we do not make soaps specific to treating certain skin conditions like demodex mites, although they may help in some cases. We would still recommend that you first consult these products with your dermatologist, to see which products they may recommend that are more suitable for your skin. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

Q: Hi what’s the ratio for the acidic rinse in other words the acv?

submitted by Rockelle - 10 months ago
  • A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Bronner's! You can use a 1:1 dilution of water and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Love the sugar soap!

Love this soap! Great lather. Can also be used as a shampoo if you do an apple cider vinegar rinse.

    I love Lemons!!

My kitchen is lemon themed, almost exactly this green. And I absolutely LOVE the smell. I use less lotion with this hand soap because it doesn't dry out my skin.

    Lavender

I like sugar soaps and in the past always purchased the lemongrass lime scent. Since I like lavender I decided to purchase that scent this time. I like it, however, I think I will go back to getting the lemongrass lime in the future.

This is a no for me. I don’t like the way the soap leaves a lot of residue in the sink. Very aggravating.

    No more itchy skin!

I’ve been a fan of your pure castile soaps for decades, although they tended to leave my skin dry. A few years ago, I discovered your organic sugar soaps, and wow - what a difference! Same sparkling clean feeling, same lovely scents, but no more itchy, dry skin. Thanks, Dr. Bronner's!

    Proven Results

I was skeptical but I absolutely love what sugar soap does for my natural gray hair. The lather is luxurious but what I really love is the way it rinses. Until you use it, you cant imagine the instant clean rinse you get. It feels so different than any other shampoo Ive used. My hair feels clean but not stripped or dried out. And the smell. I love the fresh lemongrass scent. So nice. Just love this product. I wont waste money on anything else.

Takes some getting used to but good scent

I really like the lavender scent. It's soothing and relaxing. I recently switched to Dr. Bronner's for health reasons. It takes some getting used to. I'm using this as shampoo, soap and body wash, and it does take quite a bit to get a good lather and sometimes I need to shampoo twice before my hair feels clean. It also takes quite a few pumps to get a good lather for hand washing or as a body wash. I've noticed more grime under my nails with this so I have to regularly use a nail brush when washing.

Be Kind and LOVE Your Body with Dr. Bronner!!

I have loved Dr. Bronner's products for many, many years. It makes my skin glow and I smell good too! The Lavender is the best for me but I also like the Peppermint, Tea Oil, and Lemongrass. It is also unscented if that works better for you. Regardless, you can trust that there are no chemicals that are harmful to your health. It is for this reason that this is the only soap that I use on my hair, face and body!!!!.
