Q: Safe for eczema prone skin?

submitted by Katie - 6 months ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Bronner's! While we do not make any products specifically for sensitive skin, many of our soaps work very well for those with skin sensitivities, with our Organic Sugar Soap being the most moisturizing. We have received very positive comments regarding our Baby Unscented and Tea Tree soaps from our customers with skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, oily skin, or general skin sensitivities. However, we all have different skin, so we would advise first trying our product on a small area of your skin to be sure that it will work for you. For our customers with many sensitivities who are unable to use our scented varieties, we recommend trying our unscented soaps. Additionally, our Organic Sugar Soap offers a more moisturizing experience. The first ingredient in our Sugar Soap is organic sucrose, which is a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin and hair. As a result, these soaps tend to be a bit more hydrating than our classic Pure-Castile Soaps. These soaps also contain shikakai powder, used in India for centuries as a gentle conditioner for skin and hair, making them ideal for washing hair (remember to use an acidic conditioning rinse). As mentioned above, we do not make soaps specific to certain skin conditions, although they may help in some cases. We would still recommend that you first consult these products with your dermatologist to see which products they may recommend that are more suitable for your skin. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

Q: Is there enough tea tree oil, or is it strong enough, to help treat demodex mites?

submitted by Katie On OBX - 6 months ago
  • A: Thank you for contacting us at Dr. Bronner's! While we do not make any products specifically for treating demodex mites or other skin conditions, many of our soaps work very well for those with skin sensitivities. While we do not disclose the exact percentages of the ingredients in our products, the concentration of essential oils used in our products is less than 3%, with our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap containing the highest amount. These products have no essential oils and our Pure-Castile Liquid Soap contains almost double the amount of olive oil, making them milder than the rest. As mentioned above, we do not make soaps specific to treating certain skin conditions like demodex mites, although they may help in some cases. We would still recommend that you first consult these products with your dermatologist, to see which products they may recommend that are more suitable for your skin. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

Q: Hi what’s the ratio for the acidic rinse in other words the acv?

submitted by Rockelle - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Bronner's! You can use a 1:1 dilution of water and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. After rinsing the soap out of your hair, pour the diluted rinse over your hair, using your fingers to comb it through. Rinse it thoroughly. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

The delightful scents, particularly lemongrass and lavender, enhance the experience, making it a favorite in many households. Best Review: Ok b/c it isn't the healthiest.

Soap has cane sugar which is bad for our health, it's acidic. Don't fall for it being the "healthier" sugar.

    Ok

The soap is fine. Pleasant smelling and sudsy just as the other soaps. I was hoping it would be more moisturizing than the castille however.

This really helped with my severely dry hands

Really wonderful scent! We keep different scents in each bathroom. This really helped with my grandchildren’s severely dry eczema prone hands.

Doesn’t dry out my grandchildren’s hands

The sugar soap is great for my grandchildren’s sensitive skin. We keep a different scented soap dispenser by each sink. I don’t love this lavender rendition very much but my daughter thought it smelled very authentic.

    A sweet citrus

Citrusy and sweet. It was not my personal preference of a scent. I tend to like lemongrass, but to me it felt too sweet in this version. I think it was just a personal preference. I might have to dilute it a bit more or mix with lavender soap.

Love the Organic Sugar Soap as a shampoo!!!

I've used Bronner soap (bar and liquid) in many different scents, for many years-- First when I traveled and backpacked, it was so handy to use the bars for everything from washing to shampoo to laundry. NOW I use the peppermint sugar soap exclusively for shampoo. It leaves my hair SO soft, so moisturized--I absolutely love it and highly recommend. Everything Bronner is fantastic, including the toothpastes. I will NEVER go back to any personal care products full of chemicals when I have Bronners.

    I love Lemons!!

My kitchen is lemon themed, almost exactly this green. And I absolutely LOVE the smell. I use less lotion with this hand soap because it doesn't dry out my skin.

    Lavender

I like sugar soaps and in the past always purchased the lemongrass lime scent. Since I like lavender I decided to purchase that scent this time. I like it, however, I think I will go back to getting the lemongrass lime in the future.

This is a no for me. I don’t like the way the soap leaves a lot of residue in the sink. Very aggravating.
