Q: Do I have to burp my baby after feeding in this bottle?

submitted by Boo - 8 years ago
  • A: You should always burp your baby after feeding. These bottles do a good job of reducing air intake, however, some babies naturally swallow more air than others. I use these bottles for my three-month-old and I still burp her and she has pretty big burps.

submitted byCharlotte Bassett - 7 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. While the Dr. Brown's bottles do help reduce the amount of air inside the bottle, we do recommend burping your little one during feeding.

submitted byHandi Craft Company - 6 years ago
  • A: No matter what brand bottle you use, the pediatric recommendations ive always received is to always burp baby through out a feeding, especially after a feeding.

Q: what's the difference between this blue middle insert one and the one with the green insert one?

submitted by moon - 1 year ago
  • A: The Dr. Brown's traditonal (blue reservoir) bottle does not provide the option to remove the internal venting system. The bottle will always need to be used with the internal parts.

Summary of reviews

Dr. Brown's bottles are popular among guests for their ability to help with gassy tummies and reduce spit-up, making them a preferred choice for many parents. However, a significant number of guests report issues with leaking, which can lead to frustrating messes during feeding. While some appreciate the design and nipple options, the cleaning process is often seen as cumbersome due to the multiple parts involved. Overall, these bottles may work well for some, but the leaking issue is a common concern.

    Bottles leak

    2 out of 5 stars
Frustrated Mom - 1 year ago

Im sorry but these bottles really aren’t that great. They leak no matter how full they are. After baby is done eating, I take the bottle away only to have milk pour out down the bottle and all over my hands, furniture, all over the baby. I’ve been using them for 3 months and each time I am frustrated by how bad they leak. I honestly don’t know what the big hype is about these bottles… I can’t be the only one having this issue. I am going to switch to EvenFlo bottles, I am done messing with Dr Browns leaky ones. They would be great if they didn’t leak so bad! I never fill them past the line so there should be no reason for this, and I assemble all the bottle’s correctly!

    They leak!

I was so determined and excited to use Dr.Browns, but They all leak! On thier website they say it's because the the nipple flow is too slow so it builds pressure, so I went up a size in the dr browns brand nipple and it's too fast of a flow for my baby. We have tried putting the lids on tighter, looser, and they still leak. There is nothing more aggravating than feeding at 3am and having milk run down the bottle and making a mess especially breast milk that you've worked hard for. When you google Dr.Browns there are multipleartices about them leaking. On their Facebook page, all you see are comments about how they leak. They are too expensive to be leaking. Hopefully soon we will be learning to use a sippy cup (not dr browns brand.) And we won't have to deal with this anymore.

    Awful - leaking

Picture it, you've finally cleaned your house, changed into fresh clothes, and babe is snug as a bug. Then, you go to feed and there is milk EVERYWHERE! Milk leaking all over babe, milk rings on every surface, even milk drops on the floor. These bottles aren't worth it. Leaking aside, the vents are a pain to clean and the brush that comes with does less than ideal job. The vent is required to assemble the bottle so you can't even ditch those. Trouble shooting suggests getting a different flow nipple and that still doesn't seem to help with the leaks. I suggest trying a different brand because how much should you have to spend to fix a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Waste of Money, Does nothing to reduce gas

Expensive bottles that provide no benefits. Switching to these provided absolutely no noticeable reduction in how gassy our kid was and the both 4 and 8 oz bottles leak like crazy. Following Dr Browns instructions doesn't help either. I am at a loss as to why there are so many 5 star reviews for these, I can only imagine we bought two sets both of which are defective? I can't imagine having your hand covered in gross formula every single time is fine for most people.

    BOTTLE LEAKS!!!

Baby milk flew everywhere while shaking my baby bottle. I took the lid off and tightened it again even tighter and the same thing happened again. My baby was only able to drink half a bottle because we were still forced to give it to him because it was the only bottle we brought with us to dinner. Milk leaked the entire time while he was drinking.

    Leaks if side feeding

I would say they are great for the nipple options, but #I is too fast after having baby on preemie nipples before. And side feeding is necessary to slow down the flow. However, if nanny is drinking from this bottle sideways, the bottles leak, no matter how well I align and assure everything is assembled properly. I am exclusively pumping and it’s aggravating to watch the milk just drip out as I feed my baby.

Occasionally leaks especially after shaking the bottle. Need to fix leaking issue, but premie nipple is a good flow for my newborn so I only use the cap and nipple for the Mandela bottles. They fit perfectly.

I hate these bottles. They are the absolute worst bottles I have ever tried. They are uncomfortable for baby and no matter what I tried these bottles leak so horribly. I would loose ounces of milk from these bottles leaking!!!! It was so disappointing since my production was already down! Not to mention the 1 million pieces these bottles have that you have to take them all apart and clean them. And you have to buy separate brushes to clean the bottles with which they don’t tell you! Why doesn’t it just come with them? Please don’t waste your money on these. I thought I was the only one but my friend told me the same thing that all they did for her was leak. It’s beyond frustrating and I’m happy I got these for my baby shower. I wouldn’t even spend a penny on these.

Our baby thrives when using this bottle. Our baby is 4 weeks old and has a gassy tummy. She literally screamed after every feeding for up to 2 hours before calming down again due to the amount of air she was taking in from her previous bottle while feeding. We started using Dr. Browns' vented bottle, and the issue went away almost immediately. We would highly recommend this bottle to anyone.
