Great birthday presenr
Very cool solar system. Easy to set up. Lesson book has some fun ideas to do with kids. Constellations at night are fun too. Gave it to my son for his 5th birthday.

What About the Southern Hemisphere?
I purchased this to use in my science classroom with 5-12 year olds and will be using it this term so can't yet comment on its durability or usefulness, but as I live in the southern hemisphere, it would be good if a southern hemisphere constellation dome was included in the kit or there was an option of purchasing a southern hemisphere kit instead. Having the northern hemisphere constellations is useless or very limiting to use with young students on the opposite side of the world as you want them to learn about our constellations and ones they can see in their sky, first. Please provide alternative constellation domes for us down under!

Faulty - never light up
The first set did not work, will not light up no matter what we do. We had a second set and it is just as bad. Not sure what the problem is but it is very disappointing for an 8year old.

Product has promise. Expect next model to hit the mark
This toy was very simplistic for the price paid. It was a great concept but I expected more. The stars are blurred even when close to the ceiling so that feature did not add to the educational value. A few tweaks on the suggested flaws and it would be an idea toy to learn about the solar system. I expected the planets to turn on their axis. They only went around the sun. Also, The planets were not labeled. It was easy to assemble but did not meet my expectations for an educational toy at this price point. I did like the details of each planet. The moon would be great if it can stand apart from the earth I would recommend at a lower price point. I

Nice solar system display
there's a lot of comments on the batteries um3 or lr6 are listed in the battery compartment which are standard double a batteries. rechargeable batteries do not work. the solar system is nice but the arms are prone to fall out if bumped. it spins well and the light up sun is a good touch my son loves it. saturn rings spin on the planet. i just wish it qas rechargeable instead of batteries and more detail colors on the planets. The planets can spin with the first 4 together and the second 4 together or more scattered apart.

Disappointed.
The “motorized” part doesn’t work. We even tried several different batteries just in case. :(

Junk - Does not work, will totally disappoint your child!
This product does not work out of the box. It seems many people have this comment and the company's response is to try using Lithium-Ion batteries. Nowhere does it say Li-ion batteries required on the packaging. In the enclosed instruction manual, it does not mention Li-ion batteries and actually states, "Alkaline batteries preferable." So, let me get this straight, after misleading the consumer, your solution is for me to spend another $10-15 on specialized batteries to get this silly thing to work? My kid is already so turned off by it thus far, I'm not sure it's worth spending even more.... So disappointing!! Useless, plastic junk.

Hello Dan! Thank you for reaching out to us. The description on our site under product description shows to use Lithium-Ion batteries only. Our intention is not to mislead anyone, so we do apologize if you felt misled. These types of batteries are pretty standard so we do apologize for the inconvenience of this. If you continue to have issues, we do suggest to request an exchange/replacement or a refund with the original place of purchase.

Batteries are the issue
The guide doesn't state to buy lithium batteries. I had to call geosafari many times to get a representative. She then told me to use lithium batteries. That's why you get many complaints about this toy not working.

Did not work out of the box.
Much like it seems the majority of people's experience with this product. It didn't work right out of the box. Very disappointed. Will be returning and purchasing one from another company. This was for my 5 year old son whom is fascinated with the planets and space. I think the thing that irritates me the most is that this product is marketed to teachers for use in the classroom. Make a product that doesn't falter and break or just don't make it at all.

Hello Paul, Thank you for reaching out to us. For this request, can you please try to use Lithium-Ion batteries only. Our specifications on our site state that it will only work with those types of batteries. If you are finding that you have used these specific batteries and still having issues. Please reach back out to us and we would be happy to see what we can do to help. Look forward to hearing from you.

This almost feels like a scam
I bought this for my daughter who is currently fascinated by space and wants to learn more. My experience is similar to others here. Bought the first one, it didn't. Returned it and bought another. It didn't work either. It seems to me that they are counting on people keeping the non-working product. Bottom line, I won't buy from here again.

We definitely do not want you to feel that way and stand behind out products. I just sent you an email with a suggestion that could be the fix to this regarding the type of batteries you are using. We do suggest using lithium-ion batteries only. Please look out for my email and look forward to hearing from you.

Light didnt last 2 weeks...
We recieved this as a gift and the light burned out in less than two weeks, so you can no longer see the stars. Messaged them today to hopefully get a replacement part or new product.

Motor and light does not work
My son received this as a Christmas gift but when I put the batteries in neither the light or the motor worked. I ordered another one from a store to replace the broken one but that motor did not turn on either. I'm very disappointed since my son loves the planets and was looking forward to watching them spin.

Disappointed
Brought this for my son. It worked perfect for the first night. The on/ off switch is kind of archaic. Put him to sleep and put it away. The next morning the light magically stopped working. Replaced the batteries and still doesn't work. Needless to say, I am disappointed.

Very disappointed as the bulb did not last long at all
In theory this would be a good idea but as the bulb only lasted a couple of hours and I cannot find a replacement it is useless

Motorized Solar System doesn't work x 2
I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. My 4 year old really loves the planets and solar system and his grandmother thought this would be the perfect gift. She bought 1 and it didn't work at all, so we contacted support and they graciously sent another of the same model. Alas, that new one is doing nothing at all as well. Batteries in, turn it on and nothing happens, no light, nor do the planets spin.

Slight issue with the science...
Despite its major downfall, I still love it. The model works really well for me, and I love the interchangable dome, but there is a major issue behind the science of it. I understand it's not to scale blah blah blah and all that, BUT IT'S REVOLVING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION! Planets rotate and revolve in a counterclockwise direction, and this model does not. I teach Astronomy in high school so it is going to be a funny prank to see how many of my students pick up on it! Extra credit point?
