  • A: Hello L. The XP-4200 can print on card stock. However, the thickest paper we have tested on the machine is Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy, which weighs 79 lb. For cardstock, we have tested similar Epson paper that weighs around 44 lb. Please be aware that these recommendations are for Epson paper only. I had a Canon 3-1 printer for 15 years and never once had an issue with Wi-Fi, print cartridges, scanning ,etc. I had to replace my Canon and chose this Epson. The Epson has been nothing but a headache. From the get-go it prompted me with some random issue every time I went to print with the last error message saying it was out of ink completely disabling the printer. I know it is not out of ink but I went ahead and replaced the cartridges out of desperation. It now will not accept the newly replaced and very expensive ink cartridges. None of the Epson troubleshooting solutions work and the printer is basically inoperable.

This printer is junk. It worked well until it was time to change the ink and then it NEVER works again! There is an error every time for at least one ink cartridge, but in my case, there’s an error for two ink cartridges, even though the other two worked.

I purchased this printer less than 2 months ago and have had to replace ink cartridges twice now. The cartridges cost as much as the printer! I have printed less than 100 color pages total. OVERALL, THIS IS NOT GOOD VALUE!

Dont waste your money on this printer. It is loud and constantly ate the paper. printer would not print black and white even though there was still black ink. Called customer service after installing new ink only to get email the same instructions that were listed on the printer for trouble shooting. I through the printer away only being 5 months old.

Horrible. Runs out of ink super quickly. If you want to print in black and white and the color ink is low it will not let you print at all. Absolutely do not recommend this printer

Hi yaneth1, Epson printers contain a permanent print head that must be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing only black text, a small amount of color ink is used to keep air bubbles from entering. Air bubbles can damage the print head. This printer's set up was the hardest setup I have ever had to do. It was not very customer friendly for a 55 year old to set up. I have set up other printers in the past in half the time and they were so much easier to set up. I am very disappointed that it has 4 different printer cartridges for the ink. I am use to only buying 2 cartridges per printer. Now 4!! Even connecting to my wifi was difficult and very time consuming as I had to type my password in on the printer panel which took forever. The panel is very small and hard to read. I should have researched the printer before I brought it. I haven't printed anything yet but I hope that it prints good because I am very disappointed so far.

I was happy with my Epson 625 for fourteen years so I decided to buy another Epson. It took my husband SIX HOURS to set the printer up and connect it to the computer! Just so you know he has ran his own business for 25 years and is very knowledgeable about computers, printers, etc. What a nightmare.

Good for short term.

Had this print about 1 year and recently it has been giving me problems. The ink tends to be fairly consistent with duration and quality is good. The 2 sided printing is where I have major problems. It jams every time I want to print double sided. The construction of the printer makes this an easy fix when it jams but still inconvenient. Now I have to ensure that the box for double sided printing is unchecked before printing because it will reverse the paper and jam even on a 1/1 page document. When it works, it's great but its consistently not working now and I'm shopping for a new printer because of it. Won't buy Epson again since other reviews on other printers have the same reviews as mine.

What are the icons in the corner?

I've had this a few months and it was working great, then today it decided not to print anything. Checked the website for troubleshooting, absolutely no help. I want to know what the small icon are on the top right of the screen in the corner. One looks like wi-fi for the cell, there is another with a yellow triangle and speaker with a squiggle and the word off. No where does it tell me what they mean or are them important. Why so little info with the instruction page?

I nought a set of ink jets that claimed to be recycled Epson ink so I thought I was safe. Wow was I ever wrong. Everything comes out yellow and green. Thats what I get for not having enough nmoney for the real thing. It was working great till this,
