Q: I want to print out wedding invitations what is the thickest brand of paper I can use

submitted by Mandy - 7 months ago
  • A: Hello Mandy. The thickest paper we have tested on the WF-3820 is Epson Premium Photo Paper Glossy, which weighs 79 lb. If you plan to use cardstock for your wedding invitations, we have tested similar Epson paper that weighs around 44 lb. Please be aware that these recommendations are for Epson paper only. You can try thick paper that falls in that range, but your results can vary when using other brands and heavier paper. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team

Q: Will either the WF3820 or WF2930 print photos?

submitted by Orv J - 7 days ago
  • A: Hi Orv J, The EcoTank WF-3820 & WF-2930 are primarily designed for home and light-office document printing, but if you use Epson photo or photo matte paper and set it to high quality, the ET-2800 prints good photos. Consider a printer from the Epson Expression line if you want excellent-quality photos. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.

We bought this printer several months ago on sale. I can’t say enough good about it. Set up was easy (we’re in our 70’s), prints extremely fast and I love the duplex printing. My first printer, about 35 years ago, was an Epson. The display control panel on the printer is very user friendly.

Do not buy! You can not print in black and white when the other inks are empty. All colors must be full. You can’t change the setting on the computer or printer. You are forced to buy ink every time no matter what

Does not copy 2 sided documents. Only a duplex printer not copier/fax

2 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
Shelby - 15 days ago, Verified purchaser
This is a good printer. But it is advertised as a duplex printer. I assumed that meant copying and faxing as well. I was wrong. I would not have bought this printer if I knew it did not copy 2 sided documents using the ADF. I checked with Epson customer service and they confirmed that you can only copy 2 sided documents manually. Once I run out of ink, I will probably go back to HP.

Absolute junk. This printer has never worked well. I'd give anything to have my 20 year old printer back. The ink runs out so quickly, the paper won't pull through evenly, all the trouble shooting available doesn't address the issue I am having. To me, it is not user friendly.

I am so disappointed with this printer and wish I had never bought it. I have had it a few months and there is always some type of issue! I had the WF 3540 for YEARS and it truly was a Workforce, and the WF 845 before that. In particular, the user interface on the touchscreen is NOT user friendly and has far fewer options than the previous WFs. And the printed pages are not as nice as the 3540. and the settings I use on the PC seem to have little effect on the outcome. I have used an Epson for years for our self employed business for business cards, brochures and all other paper correspondence. I do NOT recommend this printer. For me it is barely adequate.

Poor product to use with MacOS of any version

AAJS - 2 months ago

Extremely disappointed with Mac support across all modern versions of MacOS. I am constantly deleting printers, reinstalling drivers, power cycling devices to get a single print job to run. I have updated the firmware regularly hoping this device will stabilize. The printer shows connected until a document is sent and suddenly the printer is offline. Nothing is likely to work 30 minutes after getting all back online. Its unclear what testing is done by Epson but a basic netgear router with a few macbooks appears to be nowhere on the radar. Should have stuck with the HP All-in-one

scans only one sided pages, not double sided using either the document feeder or the glass scanner. When using the glass scanner, it saves each page as it's own file, no way to continue scanning the next page and saving in one document. So really, no way to scan double sided unless you make a second copy. Copies 1>1 or 1>2 only, not 2>1 or 2>2. Print output is very slow. Print quality is mediocre. I wouldn't use it to print photos. I am sticking to HP Printers from now on.

Terrible Design

Billiam111 - 4 months ago

Terrible printer that will not print in black and white when there is plenty of black ink. It is like a very expensive magic trick because the ink just disappears. The auto feed tray has rarely been used, but is broken and sounds like it has a broken gear. It should be illegal to sell this printer. 0 out of 5 stars, will never purchase another Epson printer.
1 reply from The Epson Team team - 4 months ago
Dear Billiam111, Epson printers contain a permanent print head that must be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing only black text, a small amount of color ink is used to keep air bubbles from entering. Air bubbles can damage the print head. If we can help you with anything else, please contact Epson Support at (562) 276-4382; Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PT). Sincerely, Joseph – The Epson Team.

I have tried Epson (well known) printers at home for years. I’m finished. These printers fail in 12 to 18 months for different reasons. I’m a home user, but relatively sophisticated. Today, after changing black ink for only the second time in 18 months, I am getting partially empty pages with faded black ink. I changed cartridges (new) twice. I use only Epson ink. As you can see with my cartridge usage (this is my second empty cartridge), I am not a heavy user. A few times a month for me and my wife. I register, I update software, I use Epson ink. I simply end up buying new printers as they fail. Oh, and have you used their support? Good luck with that. I am moving to a new manufacturer. How could it be worse.

Our family needed a printer just to be able to print things as they come up, such as permission slips, forms for various things, recipes, etc. I did a lot of comparing various brands and models and based on our needs (and I measured the space I intended to use) I found this one to be the best overall fit, and within the budget I had. I was excited for the All-in-One features, and to finally have the ability to print as needed, as well as scan documents. I'm 43 years old and not super tech-savvy, but I can generally figure things out and I was not intimidated by connecting this printer. I was able to set it up very easy and it connected to our wi-fi and my laptop with no issues. I bought this in September and just ordered our first black ink refill (July). We've used it to print a lot of things for various reasons, in color and black and white, and have never had an issue. I've printed two-sided, scanned documents and photos to my laptop, and photocopied documents with no problems at all. We've never had a paper jam, or connectivity issue that I couldn't solve quickly. Overall, we are very pleased with this printer, and I would recommend it to anyone with similar needs to our family.
