this item was useless noisy and took weeks to tumble. but what I didn't notice was the rocks were not smooth or misshapen round whatsoever. the only difference was that the rocks had grit on them! do not recommend paying 50 DOLLARS for something that's noisy, good for nothing, and a scam. (clay was OK)I want to return but I made stuff with the clay :(

I thought there were multiple grit packs so that I could tumble additional rocks at a later time but no, this is truly a four step process. I thought rock tumblers would take 30 minutes but the whole process is actually almost a month long. When they say it’s a profesional rock tumbler they mean it! I was blown away! The steps are clear and very easy. Teaches our boys patience and they’re always excited to check out how the rocks look after each step. Warning, the tumbling is loud! We keep it in the garage and can still hear a muffled tumble from our mud room. I would 100% recommend this activity to any family, it’s fun to watch the process and is not at all time consuming.

We did have to order more replacement belts and went through three belts the entire time. It takes close to a month for them to finish. It is kinda loud so put it somewhere the noise isn’t going to bother you. Very easy to assemble.

The rocks were easy to rinse although they didn’t have the best smell. It was easy to put everything together and the timer is easy to set up! The tumbler definitely has to be in use for a while so pending where you put it, it can be quite loud. However, adding a box over it and a towel helped make it a bit quieter. It was really neat to watch the rocks change over time and a fun learning experiment! Definitely a wonderful purchase for someone who likes to see the rocks from start until the finishing the full tumbler process!!

My kids did not like having to wait weeks for the results but they enjoyed the process in between each stage. This came with a decent array of stones to tumble, air drying clay to make all kinds of things with the stones or alone, and a couple cords to make jewelry. The noise was the main reason I wasn't too happy about this product. I understand that it's kind of hard to get around but it is quite noisy. The stones are pretty when they finish but they didn't get as smooth as I thought they would. I even went the full days allotted for each stage. But it was a fun first time and the kids love the stones and clay, so it's a WIN WIN.

It comes with different colored Clay, pottery tools, cords for necklaces, rocks and the various Grit/polishing sand for the project. It is rather noisy so we ended up covering it with a box that helped a little. And luckily it came with 2 belts because the forest belt snapped after 2 days.

Make sure you have a garage or somewhere outside of your home to use this for a week. It constantly runs and makes noise. We tried it in our guest bedroom and it must’ve opened and spilled all over the carpet. I’m sure it was user error but that was not fun. Other than that, it’s easy to use and made our stones look super cool and polished. Also note that if you want to continue to keep using this over and over, you do have to buy more of the grit powder. So it’s not a one purchase type of thing you have to keep buying the powder if you want to be able to keep using it over and over.

It was pretty noisy so we had to plug it in out in the garage because it made way too much noise in the house. The instructions could have been more detailed but we were able to figure it out. I don’t know that it is something we would purchase but it was a neat treat!

It comes with all of the supplies you need including rocks! It is noisy but put it in your basement or garage and it won't be too loud. I like that is comes with different colored clay to use to make projects with your newly polished gemstones. The assembly is quick and easy and it is very safe tk use for kids 8+. I think this would be a great gift for the science lover or craft lover in your life. Make sure to add this to your Christmas list!!

This stopped working after the first step. It won't turn on at all and we didn't keep the box so we have no way to return it. I do not recommend this item!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always been a fan of the FAO Schwarz stores. They always unlocked my imagination as a kid. So when they started a toyline I thought it was a cute concept,but I didn't expect some of the toys to be so amazing and creative for the kids. This toy is such good quality and the pictures of it do no justice to the size and how well made it is. With my kids being little explorers and Stem oriented I thought this was perfect to boost little beginning scholars and me and my son were polishing for the reveal for hours. I hope so much that they will sell like little booster packs with more rocks, because this toy is definitely a hit with my 1st grader and I know yours will love it as well!
