High quality machine, with some opportunities for improvement

Going from hand grinding to this has been a serious upgrade!!! It is incredibly consistent in the grind size. A couple things that are a bit less that expected for something on the pricier side: 1. The options for grind time seem pretty basic, rather that being able to have an option that is less than 30 seconds (based on amnt of beans?) 2. While it is advertised as anti-static, it is not really. You have to push air thru the grinder and tap the lid to make sure all the grounds fall into the container and the container itself is not anti-static.

AMAZING, just give it a few little taps

This grinder is AMAZING!!! I have so much control over the flavor of my coffee with it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new grinder. The only thing I would say that it has an issue with is how sometimes grounds get stuck, so I just have to tap the machine a little so it doesn’t get on my counter. Still, I didn’t think that could take it down to a 4 star with how consistent and sleek this machine is.

    Quiet enough and good value.

Been using this for about 3 months now. Very impressed for the price. Grinds quietly enough that I can use it without waking others in the house. Good looking form and well functioning.

Solid Grinder From Course to Espresso and Everything In Between!

I would actually like to rate this 4.5 stars, but I am limited by the rating system, so I rated it a 4. Overall, it is very good. It is well designed and well made. It handles a large variety of grind sizes from very course to espresso. Static doesn't build up too well (especially if you're spritzing your beans prior to grinding) and it's easy to clean. Since this grinder is regularly used for both espresso and pour over preparations, I was hoping the grind setting would be a little more repeatable, but it feels slightly different (though, there certainly could be other factors influencing this). The grind cup has a ridge to fit on a portafilter, so you can dump the grinds right in. This would be convenient if not for making dosing by weight somewhat awkward.

Over the moon with morning coffee

The 2 features I sought in my next burr grinder: replaceable burrs and no static mess. I am over the moon with my purchase. With Opus’ refined grind options, I found a sweet spot for my elixir of choice. And it’s quiet.

Great grinder at a great price when on sale.

It’s a great grinder. Nice design as long as you don’t mind it being mostly plastic. Super consistent grind size. Can do espresso and pour over. Very quiet. I will say it retains a lot of grounds. I use the lid as a bellow to help push them through and I tap on it, but still a lot fall out of the bottom after I pull the cup out.

Very solid grinder, especially for the price, but I'd pay more to change a few things

I purchased this in anticipation of my Series 1. Overall, very good grinder, at an extremely impressive price point. Produces an impressive and consistent grind. Easy to use (...once it is setup). Love the magnetic cup center, and the insert that allows espresso grinds to be transferred directly to a portafilter. Less happy about retention and grind setup. Retention is an issue. It can be mitigated by "pumping" the grinder lid to push air through the grinder, but that's a pain. Grind setup is also very confusing, with both an internal and external control. Making fine adjustments is a real pain, and doesn't allow the type of control I'd wish for, especially if I have more than one set of beans open, and need to adjust the grinder to account for different roasts. I'd guess most people buy a grinder for one or two styles of coffee, that mostly stay in the same range. Ideally there would be only one control, but if you must have two controls (i.e. one for broad adjustments, and one for details), I'd prefer the detail control be the easy one. I'd rather the course adjustments (say, espresso to French-press) were the difficult to access internal control, and the detail adjustment the easy to use external one. One of those I'm going to switch as I move between beans, and one I'm never going to touch, and I feel like this is backwards... my grinder will spend it's whole life between 1.5 and 2.5 or so and I'm likely to just not bother with the fine control. It seems that the Ode is the super nice, form-over-finance grinder in the product line. As impressive as it is, it is known for as impressive with fine grinds, like espresso. The Opus is the more budget conscious product, that seems to do espresso a bit better... and it is a impressive and solid grinder for the price. But I kind of wish there was a mid-line (or even higher end) offering that was really focused on espresso grinds, with fine control and as little retention as possible. As solid as the Opus is, I'd be happy to pay for better. Maybe we'll get that once the Series 1 has launched and stabilized.

Grind retention is off the charts

If you would like to make a good espresso, this is not the grinder for you. It retains a few grams of coffee no matter what you try to extract it. I did read other reviews about this, but didn't think it would be so bad. Otherwise, it looks nice and is not very loud.

    Solid grinder for the price

All things considered, I'm pretty happy with the grinder, as far as pour-over is concerned. Retention of grounds can be managed with RDT, and it grinds pretty consistently. For the price, it's a pretty good electric grinder

One of the best grinders in this price range (only small issues with retention)

Really enjoy the Opus grinder. Pretty great grind quality and consistency, not too big, not too loud. All around a great choice at a good value. Only minor downside is sometimes it does have some retention (up to 0.4g, but usually within 0.1~0.2g), I keep track of my in/out grams, so I can adjust accordingly. All in all, would recommend! probably one of the best grinders available within this price range.

This gives a good consistent grind with straightforward operation. One issue I have with it though is some coffee's will cling due to static.

    Better than I expected.

Perfect for my needs. Excellent, consistent grind for pour over & my coffee maker. Although I'm not a crazed "everything must match" kind of person, this grinder along side the Fellow coffee maker is a thing of beauty. Surprisingly quiet. I'm VERY pleased.
