I have been paperless in my home environment for a couple of decades now and have been using scansnap products for nearly that entire span. This newest version has a lot of useful capabilities that make the scan and store process easy for me. The only downside is that the wireless connectivity is impossible to configure.

First time Ricoh scansnap owner with my new ix1600. I did the wi-fi install to my network without using the USB cable since my new iMac has USB C ports. The process performed flawlessly - very easy and smooth.

Great scanner but crappy connectivity / UI

The scanner is great and works well, but connectivity to PC (WiFi) is really bad (slow to connect if it connects at all) and over the USB cable, the action between PC app and scanner controls are in conflict.

Scansnap iX1600 touch screen scanner is dependable

I replaced a previously purchased older Scansnap scanner for tax records recording. The older one was quite dependable and so is this one. I have never had a jam on a Scan snap scanner. I had jams all of the time on a scanner from another company. The only shortfall to this scanner is the lack of a software package that will take the scans and translate OCR. I understand this iX touch screen scanner will interact with Quickbooks, but I am becoming disenchanted with Quickbooks. I would like a better model to record records and files. Someone should be able to do this or make it where we can offload to a spreadsheet.

I love the ScanSnap iX1600. Previously, I was using a printer/fax/scanner combo. The ScanSnap is superior! I save so much time because it is speedy and accurate. I highly recommend purchasing one.

I needed to replace my ScanSbap 500 scanner as the firm was no longer going to support it. The scanner is super fast but sometimes the quantity of the scan is lacking. Then again I have it set to automatic. What I really miss is the inability to scan something and direct it to a printer. Yes, I can save it and pull it up and print it, but it's an additional step.

AI generated non-help is worthless

1 out of 5 stars
Robert - 2 months ago

It is impossible to configure this scanner to operate on wifi only. The on-board diagnostic reports that wifi is working correctly. As soon as I unplug the USB cable, the wifi connection fails. The AI chat is worthless, and I cannot find any other help available. Installing and using the downloadable documents needed to configure the scanner all lead to the result of "diagnostics" indicating that the wifi is working properly. Upon disconnecting the USB cable used to configure the wifi and scanning settings. the wifi connection inordinately disconnects. This after installing, reinstalling, configuring and re-configuring multiple times over 4 hours. I will be returning it. Don' waste your time or money. For some context, I have been using PCs and MACs since 1984, and I am familiar with the now-standard poorly translated documents lacking verbs, but the installation and "help" documents go far beyond what has become the new standard of difficult to follow documents. Here, the documents are both circular and pointless. In addition, I spent approximately 4 hours yesterday try to accomplish the impossible.

It use to be that you could drag and drop the pdf file from the ScanSnap Home into any pdf file but now you have to pull the file out of ScanSnap Home. They have made so many modifications to the app it's almost manic whereas it used to that simple! It now requires so many steps to get your scanned item.

I am 82 years old. My computer went bonkers with an error code and Microsoft could not fix it so they reset my computer. When I bought my Scansnap 1500 it had Vista software which I updated to Windows 10. Unfortunately at my age I didn't think that I needed to capture the software before reset. My scanner works perfectly and I can't afford a new scanner so wonder out of kindness if anyone is able to give me the software or I would pay for it. I hate to throw out a perfectly good scanner that speaks of good workmanship by Fujitsu now Ricoh. Please can anyone help?

after initial testing of approximate 400 pages of documents i've found that this device far exceeds my expectations the speed of processing and quality of images is outstanding - and amazed that the processing speed provided for both side scanning when info on both sides of a page was present i'll be testing out on photos and smaller format documents - but expecting the same great level of quality performance

Well, i personally did not select this device; my IT guy found it for me. Mind you, I am a one man operation with one office to work within. I have tried to get the multi purpose printer/scanner/copier/etc (and actually have one) but its not as "complete" as this unit it. And lets face facts, "you get what you paid for" This time, I got the better side of this deal. And yes, i have had other "personal" scanners, easy to put way, fragile, and breaks if it accidentally hits the floor. You never have that issue here

Fast, efficient, good price… everything I wanted

I needed a replacement for a Fujitsu scanner that was more than a decade old. I spent quite a long time 'scanning' the options before settling on this ScanSnap iX1600. So far it has worked extremely well. There are a few functions/options that I really don't want (like cloud storage), but it's an easy solution. It is very fast. The footprint is quite small. It does all that I want and more. Plus, the price was quite acceptable.

Have been using a Snap Scanner M 1500 with Mac for many years and it's been great. The ix1600 is super fast, super quiet and very easy to set up on WiFi. Many quality settings for versatility. I scan all documents to Evernote for organization but not necessary with the cloud service.

I had bought a Fujitsu scanner many years ago, and it was never what I hoped it would handle: batch scanning loose papers. This scanned 40 pages of Japanese text in a minute, and the ABBYY OCR software's accuracy is superior to Acrobat Pro's. (ABBYY has been pioneers in OCR since 1983, so not entirely surprising.) I then loaded a stack of slightly curled 4 by 6 color photographs from the 1980s, which yielded color scans just as effortlessly. I can't believe that this thing works as well as it does, and I think it is worth every cent I paid for it.
