I use gain detergent so I was intrigued to try this dish soap. This is now my favorite dish soap to use. It cleans dishes, it is affordable, and it smells great. It doesn’t smell exactly like the laundry detergent so it isn’t odd, the smell is pleasant!

I enjoyed the scent but it was just too strong for me. It seemed to also linger in cups after washing and rinsing. My 3 year old even would say her drink tasted soapy. Cleans really well and is really great for the price but the scent is a bit strong.

We're sorry to hear that this was your experience, as we have many quality checks in place to ensure that you can get the best possible results with our products. We wouldn't expect Gain to impart the product taste into your dishes. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. Do not soak porous items; wash immediately and rinse thoroughly. We hope this is helpful. So that we can learn more and see how we can best assist you further, please give us a call at (877) 616-2392 when you can.

I liked this dish soap by Gain. It has a pretty good smell, is a great value and is not a bad degreaser. The soap itself works pretty well, and leaves my dishes looking and smelling clean

My recent experience: This week as I proceeded to wash the dishes,as I need to everyday or they would never get done,I really didn't pay attention to the new bottle of dish detergent as I got started. The usual routine of a squirt of detergent, followed by filling the sink with water. While waiting for the sink to fill I like to look out the kitchen window.....All of a sudden:POW!!!! A Wonderful fragrance hits me. It gave me a burst of energy and motivation to get through this daily chore in a better mood. This was a great idea!! I've read some of the reviews and I understand there are some people who are sensitive to scents, but the flip side of that is that there are plenty of people who are fragrance monsters and love good scents. I think it is a great product and look forward to that fresh scent every morning when I do the dishes.
I love it

The Gain dish detergent with the "aroma boost" is too strong a scent even when I diluted it. The original was fine but the 0new formula is overpowering. Wish they left the original the way it was. Need to get a different brand.

The new “aroma boost” formula does not clean as well and leaves residual fragrance on my dishes overnight. Gain dish soap has been my favorite for years. I do my dishes in the sink basin each night and keep the soap in a pump bottle which means I always use the same amount. When I used this most recent bottle I immediately noticed it took more soap to get the dishes clean and the smell was different. Then the next day I could still smell it on the dishes as I was drinking my coffee and eating breakfast. I looked at the bottle and noticed it was had a new “aroma boost” label. I will not be purchasing that kind again. Hopefully I can find the original formula somewhere?
Stuck in the middle

So I’m stuck in the middle of how I feel about this dish soap simply because of fragrance & not in the way you’d think. This smells absolutely amazing & I find works quite well. My only con I have with this dish soap & I’m not sure if it happens with other scents of theirs but I can taste it. I hand wash my dishes cause it’s not alot & after thoroughly rinsing with pretty warm water the next time I go to use a bowl or reusable container I reheat I can taste the fragrance. It lowkey grosses me out as much as I’ve tried ignoring it. I can see using this for cleaning in a different way if there’s no way around it so for now I do not recommend for dishes.

I’ve been using Gain dish detergent for years. I just ordered two large bottles, and the formula has changed. Let me say, I LOVE fragrance, but the new detergent has way too much fragrance, even for me. When I finish what I have, I’ll have to find a different dish detergent.

New Aroma Boost ruined product

I have used Gain Ultra Clean dish soap for several years due to its quality and effectiveness. I have enjoyed its light, fresh scent as well. I recently purchased 2 new bottles and was sitting in my kitchen while my 12 year old daughter was doing dishes. I was very disturbed by the smell that filled my kitchen and wondered what it was. I was so incredibly disappointed to learn it was the new bottle of Gain with Aroma Boost. It has an overpowering Gain scent mixed with cat urine. It is very unpleasant and lingers. I had to throw both bottles away. And before anyone asks, I do not have any indoor cats. I think this is going to be loss of revenue for the company.

New formulation not agreeing with me

I used to use Gain original dishsoap and Gain original laundry flings and also the original fabric softener dryer sheets. Loved the smell of Gain and how nice it was for washing dishes and how clean and fresh it left my clothes. Well, my mom has severe allergies so when I moved back in with her the laundry Flings and dryer sheets just weren't going to work because it would leave enough residue in her machines that her skin was reacting to it and also the scent on my clothing was a trigger for her asthma. So while sad I could no longer use my favorite laundry things, Mom's health comes first so I had to concede. Well, mom spends 6 months every year in another state visiting my brother, so she suggested that while she's gone I get my Gain dish soap to use because then I'd get my fix without residue in the machines and when she returns its as quick as sticking my partly used bottle of Gain in the garage for the next time she takes off to visit my brother. Well everything was going great with the first bottle I bought back in January 2023. Not exactly sure when the aroma boost change happened, but I do know I was able to get a bottle of the original without the aroma boost back in January. I had no problems and was so happy to have my dishsoap back...the kitchen was left smelling clean and amazing. Well...fast forward to April 2023 when I bought a new bottle and upon opening the first sign something was different was when the scent was so strong upon opening my sinuses instantly burned. I thought that was odd so looked at the bottle and that's when I noticed the new aroma boost. I continued using this soap because it was what I had in the house and it had never been an issue before and though the stronger smell I didn't feel it needed at all, it did leave my kitchen smelling nice and got my dishes clean. I just would dilute it a bit more so my sinuses wouldn't burn. Now fast forward to May 20th, 2023 and I am so upset and disappointed. My right hand in the palm about the size of a quarter my skin is broken down and now has cracks in it. The dishsoap instantly makes my hands to begin itching, causes hives, and the hives swell because they're so itchy it's just impossible not to scratch them. I woke this morning digging into the palm of my hand, itchy hives, and blood coming from the cracked areas on my palm now. Over the past few weeks I've also broken out in patches of hives from my wrist to my elbow on the right side and on the left it's primarily on my elbow area but is creeping towards my forearm. Now mind you, I am not the primary dishwasher in our home. Most of our dishes go into the dishwasher with the exception of our sharp knives and pots and pans and some of the other larger things like then stockpot, crockpot, and insulated baking pans and sheets. My son takes care of the knives and pots and pans by hand and I do the larger more awkward things or things like the cookie sheets that can't be submerged. So really, I'm not doing all that many dishes. I really wish my old original Gain dishsosp without the aroma boost would be brought back because this one was tried and true and worked for me. I miss it so much. Sadly I must say goodbye to Gain all together and begin my search for a different dishsoap that my body agrees with and hopefully washes the dishes well and also smells good! Please bring back the original without the aromaboost!!!

I’m so happy about the aroma boost. My dish liquid lasts me a very long time. My last large bottle lasted 7 months! I loved the formula then, but I actually like this one ten times more! It finally has the actual Gain scent I know and love! The older formula worked fantastic, but never really had that Gain scent that I love so much. The new aroma boost does, and I actually even use it as a hand wash sometimes because I enjoy it that much!

" If it works, don't fix it ". This was a great dish washing liquid. The (aroma boost) smell is now like toilet cleaner. I recommend you cancel the aroma boost. Do it soon. I will be looking for a different product in the mean time. The ratings are meaningless when you ruin a great product with a bad decision.

I had a normal size bottle that smelled great. Went and bought a huge refill bottle of the same original scent with aroma boost and now I could swear I'm washing dishes with laundry detergent. It's giving me a horrible headache. It's just gross! I'm literally going to have to throw away a huge refill bottle. I almost wondered if they accidentally filled it with laundry detergent.
