Q: My google can is in the window but will only detect cars and not people. I have changed tge settings several times to people, motion, animals, etc. The camera is pointed at my parking lot to monitor my car. Also need more than 30 seconds. Please HELP.

  • A: Nest Cam (indoor, wired) needs to be connected to your home's Wi-Fi network. 5G mobile network isn't recommended and might cause connectivity issues. Also, the camera can’t be moved remotely using the app. If you want to change the camera’s view, you have to adjust the camera’s position by hand. You can use the Home app to check the camera’s view so you can adjust the position from the mounting magnet if you need to.

    Way Better Than Ring

    I bought the Ring camera 360 to watch my dog and then after 30 days I got bombarded by ring subscription notices. You cannot use the ring camera without a subscription. I have the MyQ cameras and google doorbell everywhere else so I returned the Ring and bought the nest and my goodness it is far superior! Plus it gives me everything I need without a subscription! I get the days recordings and if I need to save any of them I just download them. I don't want to pay for any subscription this society is all subscribed out! When MS Word went to subscription I knew the world was taking a greedy turn for the worst. Anyhow, I highly recommend this and I am telling everyone to cancel their ring subscriptions and get the nest. It does everything the ring does except 360 degree rotation. If the nest did that they would eliminate the ring altogether without a doubt!

    Worthless camera

    It worked great initially - easy set up and great video quality, although I'm not a fan of the app. One day it randomly disconnected and now we can't connect it at all even after hard resets and spending hours on the phone with Google support. They told me I now have to try contacting my internet provider to change something with my WiFi settings. It shouldn't be this difficult to connect to an app...

    It’s a love hate relationship. Bought 2 over a year ago but for some reason one is always doing the same thing. Not available or so which is pretty annoying. It’s not the wifi since 1 of these & my blink indoor are working well.

    Google bait and switch

    Google can’t be trusted with hardware. They will sell you something and then change the rules so you can’t use it anymore. They have depreciated more products then they have introduced.

    Great indooor camera, outdoor not so much

    The camera is awesome for indoor use, looks great, very accurate notifications but for outdoor use it not very clear. I will be returning it since I wanted it for outdoor.

    Fitst Gen was better

    The first generation camera was so much easier to use. If bringing camera to a different location all you had to do was scan and enter new wifi Info and you were good to go. Now you have to do a hard reset every time you travel with the camera by using something small enough to fit in hole on back of camera. It allows you to add more than one location but it’s useless because you can’t just switch wifi.

    Will not connect to home app

    I have the first generation nest cams and they are wonderful with the nest app. However, the second generation cameras will not connect to the nest app and you have to use the Google home. I've tried multiple locations, phones, and followed every troubleshooting step and it absolutely will not connect to the app. This camera is completely useless.
