Q: Does this bassinet tilt or is it level? I have read concerning reviews. Thanks!

submitted by Cat - 4 years ago
  • A: HALO here. The BassiNest swivels 360 degrees and rotates, so there is sometimes a slight tilt. Some people interpret this tilt as problematic, but it is well within the standards of accepted angles for these types of products. In addition, the front sidewall that lowers is slightly shorter than the back sidewall, which can create the perception of additional tilt. Rest assured that the BassiNest Swivel Sleeper meets all applicable CPSC, ASTM and Health Canada requirements for the U.S. and Canada. It carries the JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) certification seal. The BassiNest has met and exceeded all regulatory testing, and we actually submit to additional testing beyond what is required for Bassinets and co-sleepers. If you have any other questions, you can reach us at 888-999-HALO for assistance.

submitted byaden and anais - 4 years ago

Q: Has this product been tested for tipping over stability?

submitted by Mike - 4 years ago
  • A: HALO here. Yes, stability testing is a requirement the products must meet per the Bassinet standard.

Q: What are the dimensions of this bassinet for the proper size sheet?

submitted by Patty - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Patty! The Bassinest mattress is specifically designed and shaped for the unit, with an hourglass outline that is 18” x 30” at its largest dimensions. A standard crib sheet will not fit this mattress. Target should sell some standard BassiNest sheets on their site.

Terribe mattress

Really wanted to love this bassinet. The mattress it comes with is horrible. Baby was in the nicu for a bit and slept through the night. When taking her home and having her sleep in the bassinet, she refused to sleep. Thought it was just a coincidence and she needed to adjust until we finally tried out the crib because we were desperate for sleep and she was back to sleeping through the night comfortably. Further looked into this product and came across other parents stating this issue with their babies as well when using this bassinet. You would think for something this expensive they’d include a more quality mattress. Wish I could return it.

Thanks for the honest feedback. We've shared this with the team. Our mattress is designed to be firm to align with the AAP guidelines for safer sleep. Some parents (and babies) prefer the comfort and feel of the BassiNest DreamWeave pad instead for a breathable alternate option. This is sold separately as one more option to try. Otherwise, we're sorry to hear the mattress wasn't your favorite and appreciate the detailed review.

Such a great bassinet. We had the older version of this for our first child 5yrs ago and couldn’t have been happier. Light and sound options are “just enough” (to be helpful but not too much/interruptive to everyone’s sleep), the height of the bassinet stand is adjustable (still plenty tall enough even for mattresses that sit quite high and far off the ground), and having the side that allows easier access without having to even get out of bed is also a wonderful and frequently-used feature in our house!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using this bassinet for 2 months and it’s perfect. Our baby loves it and has been sleeping great. I love how close our daughter can be at night. But I also like that she has her own space where she is safe. The side going down was extremely helpful for me after my c-section. It was easy to assemble and doesn’t take up much space in our bedroom. I highly recommend this product.

This bassinet was 100% worth the money. We went cheaper with our first baby for a bassinet and we regretted it because our daughter hated it and it fell apart so easily. But this bassinet has been amazing and we use the vibration setting to help soothe our little man to sleep. I love everything about it. It’s so easy to clean and change sheets. We have a very high bed and it is perfect height. Easy swivel which is very useful for us. And the perfect size. The legs are a little long but they fit under our bed and the fact they are so big just makes me feel better that it won’t tip over. It was very easy to put together as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Such a great purchase! We love that you can swivel the bassinet into so many different positions. Makes it so easy for us to bring her close to our bed when we are sleeping and then be able to swivel her away when we need to get out of bed in the morning. Taking off the bassinet from the base, or putting it back on, is seamless. The collapsible side is a lifesaver when we have to get our baby girl out for a quick feed late in the evening or early in the morning as well!

Just ok. Will not be using with next baby. Swivel feature was well intentioned but design just doesn’t pan out. The swivel mechanics are plastic with metal bearings and nuts/bolts inside, making it loud and clunky and wobbly when it swivels- 99% of the time would walk our baby up. Also, our baby would move at night or slam his feet down, causing the entire bassinet to clunk and jingle throughout the night. As if newborns aren’t loud enough sleepers- this bassinet made it worse. Our baby never liked it and didn’t sleep well until we used a crib. Also- Because the base is SO heavy, it will likely stay in whatever location you put it. It’s not easily transportable around your bedroom. Putting it next to the bed is just not realistic then, because makes it difficult to get in and out of your own bed (esp immediately post partum c section etc). So we ended up parking it away from the bed and never using swivel feature. Therefore also never needed the collapsing side rail. I think design seems good on paper but it just doesn’t end up being useful in real life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Size is perfect. I love the quality of the product, including the flatbed versus a folded mattress that would normally cause discomfort or an uneven surface. Design is good, but I have a fairly low bed and the basinest does not go as low as I’d like for ease of grabbing baby,, but it will work and I can basically put the baby with basinest on the bed making it seem like we’re sleeping together, which was the point! I was looking for a high quality bedside bassinest and this one seemed to have the best ratings from parents. 4 stars for now because my baby is not due for another 2 months but I’m hoping it works out for both of us! It’ll be 5 stars if she can sleep in it successfully!

Love the swivel and the push down side

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good bassinet. Perfect size and I like the over bed option although it’s not really helpful for grabbing baby for those middle of the night feeds because you have to have the bassinet positioned too far down the bed. I love the easy to push down side though! To be honest my baby hasn’t slept in this much because she always ends up co-sleeping with me, but we use it a ton all day long as a safe space to set her down and sometimes for naps when she will let us put her down. We don’t really use the vibration and lights because the vibration is too weak to soothe my baby and I have another nightlight and sound machine that I use. Although I do occasionally use the heartbeat sound to soothe her. All in all I’m glad we bought this bassinet and I love the swivel feature and the push down side. It was worth the price (bought on sale) even if we don’t use it quite the way I thought we would.
