Q: Do you have to hold down the button continuously while blending, or is there an on/off switch? I want to buy this for my grandma, but her arthritis would make it difficult to keep a button pressed continuously.

Q: Can the chopper be used to make nut butters?

A: Thank you for your question. Nut butters can be made successfully in food processors. However, the thick mixtures can challenge the motors of small food processors. For food processors of this size and motor type, we would recommend using roasted nuts verses raw nuts. Roasting draws moisture out of the nuts so the dryer nuts slice quicker. This allows the oils to be extracted and blended into a nut butter faster with less stress on the motor. Quantity of nuts will also affect the amount of processing time. We recommend processing no more than 3 cups of nuts at a time. If making nut butters is a primary task that you would like to use a food processor for, consider selecting a food processor with a more robust motor that can handle the tougher jobs.

I only used this maybe twice, I just tried to blend a pumpkin and the inside tread completely broke and won't spin attachments anymore. I bought this several months ago so I can't return it. It's a shame this has to go in the trash, what a disappointed and environmental waste!

ok but plastic parts in bowl heat up and melt
Works good, but the bowl blade attachment gets very hot and does melt the plastic casing around the blade - this should not be plastic or should be heat proof, I returned it to Hamilton Beach and they replaced it but it has to be done in 30 days after purchase or you loose the opportunity to have it replaced.

I purchased this because a google list had it as the 2nd or maybe 3rd best hand blender. It’s replacing a kitchen aid that died after less than 2 years. This blender is heavier, with more vibration, and a less comfortable feel than my previous blender. BUT the price is low enough that if this unit also dies in 2 years I will at least be less disappointed. I am hoping (based on reviews) that it will last much longer

Great for Soups
I bought it for blending soups. I haven't used the whisk or the chopping bowl. I use my food processor for chopping. It's great for the price. I ordered online and picked it up at Target to save on shipping charge. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
