Q: how does it have an overall length of almost 17 inches but becomes about 13 inches in length on the inside? that's almost 4 inch reduction! this would've been perfect for what I need

Too tall
These were sturdy, well-made boxes and cheaper than others that were similar dimensions. They were actually larger than other more expensive ones in terms of volume. HOWEVER, they were too tall to fit under our bed, so we had to return them. In the store they looked very similar to the others, but the ~1 inch difference in height was what mattered. They said they were made for under the bed so I figured they would work. Next time, I will measure the space I’m working with before I buy anything. 🤷♂️ Lesson learned.

Not a durable lid
No good, the clips do not have a good hold and I had packed it into my vehicle for moving purposes and the lock unclipped from one side and stuff came flying out. I got one similar to this bin but if it had a better lid this would be great

I love these totes. I have a bunch of the jumbo ones (~113 quart bins). They are phenomenal and I appreciate the latches on both the ends AND the sides. I can pack these like grandpa packing in cookies during the holidays. The 63qt bins, however, do NOT have the side latches. And because of this, lack all of the utility I purchased them for. I’m quite bummed. Shame on me for thinking the features would be uniform across the lineup, and super disappointed. I’ll likely bring these back.

I bought two of these for camping gear & winter clothing storage, and I have to say the Hi-Rise lids add just the perfect amount of space. They fit seamlessly under the bed, and have great storage capabilities. Since purchasing, I've moved across the country and these held up very well after being handled by the moving company - a few scratches to the outside, but no damage to the contents inside. I would highly recommend these containers.

I looked for a taller one for my new bed. This is the best I could find. I like the squared of shape that is not reduced by the lid closure. The plastic , especially the lid is flimsy. I was disappointed it could not be shipped to my home; and only 1 Target carried it, 20 miles from home for pick-up.
