A: I read all the fine print on the box hoping I could find that the bags are bpa free, I did not find bpa free. I find the bags very useful and handy. I do not cook or warm in the bag. I store food only. I love the bags.

The ziplock portion of these bag cause the bag itself to tear when it’s being sealed. I have bought these bags for years and it has never happened until this year. Disappointed because they work well for traveling with clothes.

I really dislike this style zipper but Hefty was the only one with these large bags for so long, I didn’t have a choice. I generally don’t reuse them many times so I haven’t had an issue with the part you hold coming off, as happens so frequently with this style zipper. I use them for store baked bread loaves because the whole thing fits without having to cut it up! I also put multiple smaller bags in this large bag when sorting items or many toiletry bags when traveling. I can’t comment on its thickness compared to the Up and Up brand but will say it’s comparable to in between Ziploc storage and freezer weight bags.
