A: The IBgard capsules are now being produced without any added colors and have clear shells. The prior version capsule shells include FD&C Yellow #5 and FD&C Green #3, and are still in circulation in the market, so packaging/appearance may vary. If you have the prior version and would like to take IBgard without the green (color) capsule shell, you can sprinkle the contents of the capsule on applesauce or dairy free pudding and swallow. Do not chew.

Getting worse! Heartburn side effect!
My symptoms are gas and bloating in the stomach and right up abdominal area(No pain and slight heartburn with empty stomach). This medication was recommended by my gastroenterologist. I had PPI for about 10 days, I felt much better. Then I cut the PPI and started IBgard ( these two will interact if taking at the same time). All my symptoms came back immediately and even worse on the second day of IBgard. I took one capsule 3 times a day. I waked up by severe stomach pain at 2pm and it lasted for about 15 minutes which never happened before and I also felt intense heartburn. I stopped it and took PPI the next day, I felt better again but still had moderate stomach pain and heartburn. Turns out that Peppermint oil can cause heartburn.(Peppermint oil can relax the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus, allowing stomach acids to flow back into the esophagus. This can worsen heartburn and indigestion). I barely noticed the mint in my stomach, so it didn’t release early. But It is not for me! I also don’t recommend it to people who have high levels of stomach acid.

Life changing for IBS-D!
This product has been life changing for me and my 35 year struggle with IBS-D. I only wish I had known about it years ago! I will typically take 1-2 before I eat a meal, and I’ve found it works best if I plan ahead and take it at least an hour beforehand, but in a pinch, it helps right before eating, as well. It seems to slow down my hyperactive bowels and actually seems to give my body time to digest normally. Which is amazing and something I’ve not experienced in many years. It sure beats any of the Rx IBS meds I’ve been on in the past, and it’s MUCH better than taking Immodium when I just need to slow things down. No side-effects for me at all with IB Guard. Drink it with a big glass of water and you’ll hardly notice any peppermint. I do not have any reflux issues, however. Sometimes I just take one if I’m having discomfort from gas or noise bowels and it settles things down nicely. I can’t recommend this product enough! In the past I had tried the more affordable peppermint capsules and they did nothing for me, so I’ll stick with these. It’s absolutely worth the cost.

Effective for IBS and post Stomach Flu/Food Poisoning
I’ve used this for years for IBS flares, etc., though the first time it was recommended to me by my Gastroenterologist after a case of salmonella poisoning had me feeling very off kilter. I just this past week had the stomach flu that seems to be going around everywhere, so I took a dose to see if it would help to settle my stomach a bit (72 hours post onset, so fever and vomiting were gone), and it really helped to do so. I find this to be so gentle and effective!

Solid Solution for Uneasy Stomachs
I have been using iBGard for several years and am very pleased with its effectiveness and ease of use. I have used it as a "preventive" when I know in advance of meals/events with items that can irritate. Also have used it after the fact when bloating, unease arises.
